What do our American forum users think? Who do you want as your next president?
Also would someone be able to break the whole thing down into layman's terms as I'm trying to follow the process but I'm not really clued up when it comes to politics. (I know how voting works, I just don't know which parties have which policies and candidates etc...)
IMO neither 'that lady' or the man she is battling for the right to be in the election this year will win. They both have large chunks of the American population who will not vote for them under any circumstances.
So, the other guy who isn't in the news very much because he's got his nomination sewn up .. .. .. he'll win.
*Disclaimer: I do know their names, and a little more about US Politics, but I thought I'd keep it simple.
I hate to break it to everyone, but the mass hype surrounding the US election is based soley around the Democrats, whoever wins it is pretty insignificant. Yes they will be running for President and it may be quite close again....However I still beleive that the Republicans will beat whoever the Democrats throw at them. They have a huge vote from middle America and general red-necks to to mention proper people.
So, I think it's inconsequential who wins, as overall the Republicans will probably provail again...
Basically what they're saying (I think) is that all the media attention is focused around the "battle" between Barack Obama and Hilldog (Democrats), whereas neither of them are likely to end up as president which will probably go to the Republican candidate (don't know his name).

Am I right Ed00wii and captain?
That sums it up .. .. .. McCain is the Republican candidate .. .. If I could choose I'd pick Obama over Clinton every time, but the choice between him and McCain is less clear cut.. .. .. but as I'm not a US citizen I don't have to choose!!
Well on first thought I'd pick Obama, simply because I'd love to see a black president, however that's a lousy reason to choose someone as it should be based on their policies rather than their race.
