its quite strange, exams. they havnt ever bothered me, as such, and I've sat a fair few of them. my friend is getting really worked up about her final exam in may, it got me thinking...
In 4th year, for my standard grades, (as for pretty much every one, else too)
I sat 8 standard grades, for each subject, you sit 2 levels (foundation general, or general credit) For each subject you sit prelims, and actual exams, so for each subject, you sit atleast 2prelims, and 2 exams...
heres how mine broke down;
English reading (2)
English writing (2)
Maths (2)
French reading (2)
french listening (2)
french speaking (1)
latin project (1)
latin reading (2)
biology (4)
craft and design (2)
modern studies (4)
Accounting and Finance (2)
Accounting and finance project (1)
So 27 exams for prelims, 27 for actual exams....
54 in total. we got through them with out any chance of a resit. so surly the fact that is she fails this one, she has another attempt, then can alway resit the year is a positive. this fact alone made my friend worry less.
Exams are a part of learning. they arent the problem, its the way people prepare (or dont) and the hype and worry they build up.
My advice it not to worry. just to do your best.
only prob;em i have is never taking my own advive - didnt prepare for any of mine, at all. infact almost forgot about them... passed though att credits.
