The Accident Thread

Following hilly's son's 'altication' with a dvd case, what accidents have us wiitalkers had? Broken bones? Cut's, bruises? (obviously not just your average paper cut etc!).

Sorry for the morbid subject but thought it might be interesting.

In my time I've had the following:

Broken my collar bone twice. First time when playing football I gottripped over and landed on my shoulder. Had a highline beak in the bone and had to have it in a sling of weeks.

Second time I was on my bike and had a bag on the handlebars which got stuck in the wheel. That locked the wheel and I went over the front and my shoulder landed on the kerb! Went to the hospital and they said I'd badly bruised it and sent me off with some pain killers. A few days later and having gotten no sleep I went back up the hospital and they actually x-rayed it. Nice clean break! In a sling again for 6 weeks. I still have a nice bump in the bone as it didn't heal straight.

Also fel over in my mates back garden when playing as a nipper and landed on a piece of bamboo pole that was sticking out the ground. The bamboo went straight through my knee! I was in quite alot of pain! Had t have seveal sticthes and still have a lovely scar there.

Also cut my hand open when I fell against a fence.

believe it or not the most painfull injury ive ever had (a lot lot worse then my leg or foot) was when i tore my groin muscle playing footy! they heard it snap on the side lines and i actualy threw up! i couldn't straighten up for over a week and err was a little black down there for a couple of months

another good one was just after zach was born (he wasn't sleeping much) i was worn out at work cutting some lead with a stanley knife! i slipped off the straight edge and cut down the lengh of my right thumb (making the last inch like a snakes toungue)

i taped it back together with insulation tape! the customer said lets have a look i was going to be a nurse (i did warn her ) she nearly passed out! i ended up with stitches and they glued my nail back together! not very nice

Late night, 20 miles in the saddle, 5 minutes to go to get to the pub, muddy puddle,cleats, hill and barbed wire, 3 months on crutches .. .. .. ..

ps if it wasn't for the captain i wouldn't have gotten my x-ray pics (thanks captain) strange how much our injurys are a like must take a better camera to the hospital in the future

Shattered my left Humerus and Ulna by running across the balance beam at school when I was about 6 (fell off obviously). That took me years to recover from as I landed on my elbow and damaged all the nerves in my left arm.

Broke the same metatarsal in my left foot 3 TIMES from playing football.

Dislocated my little finger on my left hand playing indoor five-a-side. Couldn't be arsed to go to A&E so I had one of my mates Dad's snap it back into place without anaesthetic.........big frigging mistake. It still isn't right to this day, I can barely touch it without searing pain.

Broke my right wrist at Center Parks about a year ago by attempting to punch a ball away whilst playing in goal, only to realise we we're using a football that greater resembled a basketball. Then foolishly decided to shake my hand about as if I had a paper cut or something, to which I heard several cracks and rattling.

A couple of weeks after my wrist had healed I was walking home early one morning when a chav completely off his tits on drugs decided to dislocate and break my jaw for completely no reason. How nice of him

well i dont have any pics of it, but back when i was 13 it was the middle of the summer, in Texas( where the average temperature is 103 fahrenheit(about 40 degrees Celsius...), and everyone but me was off at summer camp.

I was out in the middle of the road playing with a makeshift ramp some plywood and cinder blocks to raise it..and my scooter.
i was doing 360's and stuff like that when i thought that i should try to do a backflip off the ramp, and it would be awesome if i could make it.

i fliped off the ramp and went into the flip, made it around and hit the landing ramp, but i hit with my front wheel first which made my face come down and smack into the handlebar, making me lose pieces of my front teeth.

after the crash i had pointed front teeth, and i ran around looking like a vampire for about 2 years before finally letting a dentist touch my mouth.

Some of these are making me cringe! Especially Nickos!

I'm not too bad with my injury list, although I do have a hell of a lot of little scars as a result of being a little tomboy when I was younger climbing trees, skatboarding, rollerblading, playing rugby, footie and the like.

The ones I can remember most are:
When I was being looked after once with my twin sister, we decided to make a little obsticle course in between two rooms, you had to run around the room, and over the sofa that was in front of two french doors to get into the next room and do the same again. I went to run over the sofa after doing it for about the 40th time, caught my foot on the top of the sofa which caused me to land on my knees in the next room, I got up and realised I could just see the tip of a needle coming out of my knee. it was gross.

I was running aftar my sister after a night of Tae-Kwon-Do and tripped over and landed straight onto a broken pipe, 7 stitches in my left foot.

Had my nose broken about three times, two of them just random trips and falls. One when I was about 11 was when my little sisters went to the alphabet zoo which was like a little play area for kids. My mum couldnt see her when we went to pick her up so asked me to go in and find her. So off I went, started climbing these foamy steps that sort of went in and out of each other, just as I was going up, this little kid was coming down at the same time and decided to knee me full force in the face. I sat there shocked and dazed for a bit, before thinking "I wasnt wearing this red top before was I?" and seeing my mums face like and telling me to get out. bloomin hurt!

Also when I went to play with my mates in the school holidays, we used to jump over the fence at Cardiff castle to get into the fields. The fence is not exactly a fence but I dont know how else youd describe it, like an iron fence and the top of each pole had spikes a bit like two joined arrow heads... Id stayed over a mates house the night before so had dirty laundry in my bag. One of my male mates knicked it and in a panic I ran after him demanding him to give it back just in case he went in my bag. He jumped back over the fence and I went to follow. Grabbed onto two of the spikes to pull myself up over the other one and stabbed myself in the chest! (OUCH!)


Still got the scars and lumps for all the injurys above.
Thinking about it, my injury history hasnt been that good

i've fallen many times from doing Parkour(youtube it..it rocks) and acrobatics in general. i've fallen off of buildings, ran into polls, rolled down steps, and pretty much anything else you can think of..

through all of this, i have never broken, fractured, or even sprained any bones at all.

i am a very lucky person, and i keep trying to push it beyond my limits, but i cant seems to find my limits...

i think the closest i have come to breaking something was when i was doing a backflip off of the school roof(about a 20 foot drop)(a lil over 6 meters), and i flipped too far and landed on my back on a log that was blocking off the flower garden. some skin on my back was torn up and my shirt was in bloody some spots, and i had some bruises on my right arm, and a few small cuts, but nothing broke, sprained or fractured...nothing bent outa shape..just some minor wounds that I'm used to...i just got up and went to the nurse for some bandaids n such and went back to class..lol


i start to think that i dont really have limits.....
