I was wondering what you lot do when you're not on here idly chatting about games and stuff...
I find more and more that I come to forums to be cheered up. You might have noticed the past couple of days, I am "sad" (I always try to adjust this so it is right for my mood)
So let's start telling each other about what has been going on in our lives recently, what we do in a normal day. Any grief we've had, any day to day problems etc.
I'll kick us off with why I'm sad...
This past week has not been good for me.
Last Saturday we realised one of our freezers had conked out and all the food inside it had defrosted. £50 worth of grub down the drain! As it was a bank holiday weekend, nothing could really be done until Tuesday.
Sunday was ok, we had like a full Christmas dinner with all the trimmings and a Christmas Pud with Rum Sauce for afters. We seem to always do this for Easter. Plus I spotted that really cheap printer at Amazon and ordered one as a spare, which made me very happy.
Monday I had to go and dish out bread and cheese to our village's pensioners, as most of you probably know by now. This had caused me a great deal of stress as my husband didn't want me to be a Trustee of the charity and it had caused a big argument between us. But he was ok once he had seen me on the telly, and all is well on that front now.
Tuesday I got an engineer out to look at the duff freezer, only to be told that I needed a new one. So I paid out £35 for the callout and bought a new freezer for £250, which gets delivered tomorrow.
I also got very stressed trying to work out how to take a recording from a DVD and get it onto Youtube. It really did take me several hours! I am still discovering better programs that I could have used, and reckon I could lead someone else through the process quite easily now!
Wednesday was bad. Although it was great fun to come online and chat about my moment of fame, underneath I was grieving the loss of a family member. My husband's uncle (his dad's only brother) died during the night and we got a phone call to let us know at about 8am that morning. Strangely you don't tend to discuss that sort of thing on this type of forum, so I just gaily carried on chatting on here like I didn't have a care in the world!
I spent most of Wednesday and yesterday spreading the word that my husband's uncle had died, as he was a well-known and respected member of this community, having lived his entire life here in Biddenden. Even when it isn't a blood-relative, it really drags you down when you discuss a death over and over again, and I did shed a few tears, I have to say! I had actually known this man for 19 years, marginally longer than I have known my husband. I really liked him. So whether I was related to him or not, I was upset by the news of his death.
Wednesday evening I had a PTA meeting to discuss a circus that we have coming to the school in June. This is causing so many headaches, it is depressing me! Everything we want to do is blocked by regulations. We can't even sell crisps and candy floss there! (Thanks a lot, Jamie Oliver!!!)
Yesterday I had to go to the opticians for my two-yearly sight check. Sure enough, I am getting "blinder" and needed new glasses. Another £134 forked out! I am feeling really skint now!
Today I am preparing for a PTA event this evening. We are having a fun family bingo night in the school hall. I don't enjoy this any more. It's just hassle. Refreshments: Packs of raisins, unflavoured popcorn, fruit juice and very little else. (Rules, rules, rules!)
So there you have it, a typical week in my life, excluding the bits about shouting at the kids for never getting up quickly enough, all the hassle of running a business from home, etc etc. That's too mundane.
So if I ever seem a bit off, you know why.

By the way Sue, whatever happened about that infamous 'bench' incident?
So tell us what camera you bought! I'd love to know so I can check it out.
The bench?
Well, I just popped across the road to take a piccy:
We put this brand new bench in place towards the end of January. Let's hope it lasts at least as long as the first one (over 23 years!)
The kid that vandalised the old one got away with it as there was no proof. Good thing was that it was absolutely rotten anyway, so really did need replacing. Luckily the kid doesn't live here and has hardly been back since.

My dog (tiny jack russel) was mauled by a staffy bull yesterday ... I cut my hands up getting him out of its mouth .
Was pretty distressing really .
Dogs ok .. he's got a some cuts and bruises and lost some fur but he'll be alright .
Welcome to mojo's secret treasure hunt. Follow each clue carefully ...each clue will take you to a post of mine where you'll find the next clue.
Clue #1: A noise is my riddle ... like a horn but not a fiddle. I'm not at the end and i'm not in the middle.

Really glad you and your dog are ok. Things like that can get nasty.

Well, it's been a difficult time for me lately in a completely different way.
Many of you know that I finished my degree late last year, and that I wish to go into Teaching. Well to be able to get onto the training course I had to spend 3 weeks working in a school 'to get a feel for it'.
When I asked my boss for the leave (unpaid), the reply was no, so I was effectively forced to leave my job. My last day at work was Feb 28th. I started the school placement on Feb 29th, and it finished last thursday (March 20th). I had an absolute ball at school, it was a real pleasure to go to work each day, which felt amazing.
But now it's all over and I have to find another job. Been for an interview this morning, the woman kept me waiting for nearly an hour (I nearly walked out), and I can do the job with my eyes closed. If I'm offered it then I'll take it just for the money to be honest, I just can't wait to start training in September (subject to an interview).
So although the outlook is pretty good, between now and September things aren't so clear and it's beginning to get me down :(. Rob is supporting me so much, which helps an awful lot, but sometimes I jus wish I could be back working at the school.
Wow! What age of children are you hoping to teach? What age were you working with this past month?
I love children. I'm a hopeless parent, because when the boys sneak a swear word into the conversation or start a burping/farting competition, I just laugh! Then I think "Oh poo - I meant to be telling them off now!"

I wish to teach from 11 to 18, which is the range I worked with recently.
Sound to me like you make an ideal parent Sue! (from a childs perspective anyway lol).
