Question real life

high folks untill this sub forum opened i'd almost forgotten about real life

it's got me thinking about maybe having a board meet sometime during the summer? don't now whether anyone would be intereseted but it could be fun? maybe meet up at central location for a day in the pub or even take advantage of the many buy one get one free offers and all meet up at a theme park somewhere?

jo is a member of a ub40 (reggae grooup):forum who did this recently which was a great sucess!

so i thought i'd start a pro's and cons list about all meeting in real life which everyone can add too then see how it goes

pros
1, we could find out if mojo realy is an evil monkey looking for world domination
2,does snazy p'wn people in real life or is he realy a transexual
3, it would get me a day out (i only manage weddings, funerals and two hours at christmas these days )
4,be fun really meeting you all

cons
1, we might all hate each other in the real world
2,people would here my accent and i'd never live it down

ok i'll edit it as people comment

Think this would be a great idea! I'm a member of a footie related forum and they have regular match based meetups, and it's good to getto know people and know the people you speak to on a regular basis. Obviously this would be a bit different as a footie meetup has a comon meeting point.

A day in the pub sounds good to me though!

I think the only trouble would be organising it, like where to meet and what to do.

Great idea though hilly. I was actually wonderig if you guys had already done this sort of thing.

I've been to 3 meet-ups with another forum, Birmingham, London & Cardiff.. Birmingham's a good place to meet Got the Bull Ring with tons of shops, plenty restaurants, bowling, cinema etc.. oh and with Birmingham New Street train station being kinda inside the Bull Ring it's a good place to hang around as we wait for people to arrive

I'd consider coming

Definatly a good idea hilly, and i think a themepark would be a good place, providing everyone is ok with that and rides are something that people enjoy going on... lol

As fun as a theme park would be, aren't they still rather expensive?
Sure the admission can be cheaper but there's all the hidden costs once ya in.. and parking

Well, lets say you went to Alton Towers...standard ticket is £35 but if its BOGOF then, you both only pay just over £15 each, then food and drink, so probably talking about £30-£40 for the day out...bargain!!

it does sound like a cool idea. the only problem with a lot of us would be getting time off work. due to working in a shop i can't get any time off around any of the seasonal holidays christmas, summer etc.. so i basically have to take time off whenever i can. i'm actually on a week off just now and thats because i was forced to take my holidays before the end of the tax year

Hooblue to line manager: "can I have the day off next week?"

Line manager to Hooblue: "yeah sure, doing anything nice?"

Hooblue to line manager: "I'm off to meet a load of complete strangers off a Wii based internet forum!"

Line manager to Hooblue: "err, ok, great! "

I'd definately be up for it, although I think meeting somewhere central like Brum would be easier and less expensive than a themepark. That might be good for a second meetup after the initial one perhaps?
