Adding usb slots to a PC with usb is easy, the device you're looking for is called a usb hub. The hub will plug into your usb port and then give you access to 4,7 or sometimes more ports. If you are in the States have a browse on Best Buy's web site for some ideas on pricing.

As for your existing usb ports, have you tried plugging any other usb device in since you tried your Wii's wifi device? I think you might find that the PC didn't do anything with your Wii adapter as it might not have recognised it without the relevant software to tell it how to use it.

As TheKeyboardDemon said plus my own couple of thoughts.. .. .. ..

The PC is running windows XP? The USB dongle doesn't work with other operating systems.

The PC is connected to your Broadband by LAN not wireless?

You followed the instructions properly? I know that sounds like a stupid question but many wireless devices have a specific sequence to follow to set them up and if you don't follow it exactly then they won't work.
