I have tried various american online retailers who sell the card for excellent prices (one of which being £150), but most of them don't deliver over here.
Can anybody recommened anyone?
Also, I have download HD demo videos of what this card can. I watch them with a crappy ATi Radeon X550/600 of 128MB and they look phenomenal. Seeing as there is a huge gap between my current graphics card and the one in the link above, will the new graphics card display it the same as when I watched it with my current one?
Try shopping at ebuyer.com overclockers.co.uk and scan.co.uk for your 8800GTS. I've used all three and been happy, though your mileage may vary.
It is a truly wonderful card for the money, although if your monitor can handle resolutions above 1280x1024 you might want to consider putting a bit more cash in and going for the 640mb variant.
While US sellers may be cheaper, bear in mind that you might get hit with import duty. Personally. I'd play safe and go with a UK distributor. It will also be easier to return the card under the distance selling regulations should there be a problem.
The demo's you watched are hard to judge. But rest assured there will be a massive difference between what you have now and the 8800.

What's the spec of the rest of your machine?
my machine is poo
Intel Pentium 4 3GHZ
1275MB of DDR2 RAM
100GB Hard Drive & 40GB Backup Drive
8 USB Ports
ATi Radeon X550/600 of 128MB (absolute poo)
Microsoft Vista Ultimate
My motherboard has PCI express slots, i think, but I need to buy a new power supply to accomodate the 8800 GTS. I currently have a 305Watt one when I need a minimum of 450Watts. Anything else I need to look out for

TBH I think that your CPU might bottleneck an 8800. Assuming that you don't want to/can't afford to do a major overhaul I'd point you towards one of the new Radeon 2600XT variants. It should give you a noticable boost, is DX10 compliant and is about £100 cheaper than an 8800GTS. Unsure of the power requirements off-hand but it should be less than the 8800.

Hope that helps.
Thanks for that, I'll check out the Radeon2600XT then.
I was going for Nvidia because I heard that they were generally better

The 8800GTS is certainly a better card but looking at the rest of your system I don't think you'll get the best out of it. There's even a silent (heatsink) version of the RX2600XT if you want to keep the noise down.
Happy shopping :-)
Oh, and make sure you find out if your mobo has a PCI-E slot!
