Looking at the list of what you use your PC for then the obvious question is this - Why spend £900 on a Laptop? - You can get laptops for £300-£400 that will do the same job as your PC!!
This is the thing, i know sod all about spec and so could spend far too much on overkill. I have a few friends in IT who i need to bore to death about it!
Mario Strikers Charged Code - 382 352 916 212
Wii games -Wii Sports, Wii Play, Eledees, Resident Evil 4, Heatseeker, Mario Strikers Charged, Super Paper Mario, Pangya Golf With Style
VC Games - Punch Out, Streets Of Rage, super Mario World, Wonderboy in Monster World
Personally what I would recomend that you do is to set yourself a budget and stick to it.
You have obviously decided that you are willing to spend £900 on a laptop so shop around visiting places like PC World, Comet, Staples etc. and see what you can get for your money.
ACER is not a bad brand for a laptop but personally I would look out for brands like HP/Compaq, Sony or Toshiba.
Take a notepad and pen with you when you visit these places and make a note of the Make, Model Number, CPU, RAM, Hard Disk Space and Graphics Card, price and availability (no point trying to buy something that isn't in stock).
Once you have a list you can then see what laptop gives you the most for your money.
The higher the spec is now of your laptop the more future-proof it will be, i.e. the higher the spec the longer you will have to wait before any upgrades may need to be done.
If you are OK with buying off of the internet, then once you have a make and model of one you like you can search the net for it to see if you can get it cheaper!
i dont know if it will matter to you, but the one thing that i look for is weight. i have to cary mine around all day and a heavy laptop really isnt worth buying.
if its just going to sit on your desk at home for surfing etc then i would go with a £3-400 system from someone like HP.
i would sugest NOT buying an own brand laptop, these frequently overheat and arent worth any savings they might give.
Hope its usefull advise, but it is just my opinions ;-)
I'm sure that some people will dissagree, but Dell do do some good laptops. I've had my D410 for over a year now and it's great. Don't get me wrong, I didn't buy it through Dell, I used this website Discounted Computers laptops And Printers New and Refurbished - much cheaper.
Anything that's out today will be able to do what you want, I would recommend that you get a good sized hard drive - say at least 50/60Gb that should give you enough space for your MP3's and videos / movies, and 1Gb of RAM (more if your going to use Vista) will keep it running smothly.
I would also think about getting a system that still has XP on it, as Vista still has some compatibility issues around it - I know apple were having trouble getting iTunes to work on it, don't know if it works now or not. Also there's still a lot of hardware that won't run on it.
I've ordered and used Dell hardware for work, in fact my flat panel monitor in front of me is a Dell.
I just want to see what i'm buying first but you hear horror story's about PC world etc...
So the general idea is spend less, and having gone onto a few laptop review sites, the Acer seems to have a graphics card that doesn't command its price but other items on it do...
God this is confusing!

All I would recommend is buy something that is relativley cheap while having a brand name HP / Dell etc or if your rich splash out for toshiba / Sony but don't buy anything more than you really need, and make sure you get warranty, Laptops are great but most of the internal workings are specific to the manufacturer so if for example your motherboard goes its not like a pc where you can go on e-buyer and get a new one you will most likely have to return it to the manufacturer and that gets expensive.... I would advise getting the manufacturers warranty though as for example PC world will try to sell you theres but then they just ring the manufacturer to get it fixed anyway but take twice as long to do it.
