Default How do you justify owning a console ?

Hi all

just was curious to see what you felt about it.

I feel a PC beats every single new gen console by a big margin and i justify owning a Wii due to its Wii motes and the oppertunities that opens that no other gaming rig can or does. but when you look at it if you care about money you'd only own a PC and maybe a Wii.

lest we forget that on my PC i have n64, snes, nes, mega drive, master system, PS1, emulators and hundreds of Roms. Or that i joined CVG which for around £10 a month gives access to 100's of decent games. or that you can get clones of popular games for free.

i am just looking at gamnes and the console here but theres many other things you can compare and when i do PC wins again and again ie blue ray or hard drives a PC is gonna do it with far more options not gonna leave you stuck with one or the other.

online gaming PC does that better too, any console ever have an FPS with 300+ people killing each other ? almost any argument PC wins even more so with new gen consoles.

well thats MY OPINION i'd love to hear yuors

theres a lot i could say either way but just thought i'd start an argument, though a friendly one.

Last year I brought myself a PSP (since sold it to fund the Wii) and I wanted one for months but decided that it cost too much...

I then decided to take a holiday and visit a friend of mine abroad. Having never flown before I used that as a justification to myself for getting one!

Around 15,000 miles (and 24 hours later) I landed in New Zealand on my first ever flight and had mad full use of my PSP playing games, listening to music and watching The Royale Family!!!

TBH id rather have a console over a gaming PC anyday. I did get into the whole online gaming scene on PC couple years ago but got bored and migrated back to console gaming.
It just feels more natural to me (call me weird?) plus im not the kinda person who would spend money every couple months to upgrade their PC..
Plus as I work on computers for a living I want a change when I get home, eg Wii, PS2 etc.

Variety is the spice of life

Some mates and I used to have LAN gaming sessions with our PCs which took a lot of messing about setting up and packing away our PCs!

Most of my mates had consoles from the N64, GC to the XBox and the 360 but I never could get on with using those silly controllers hense why we used PCs! Give me a 104 button joypad any day!

Now that the Wii has come along with its innovative controller I now take that wherever I go!!!

I justify my console by simply saying that I do not want to upgrade my graphics card, RAM and hard disk capacity every time a new frigging game comes out. Much happier with a console that I know will play every game released.

Hardware: Wii Console, Wii Remote x2, Nunchuk x1, 2000 Wii Points
Software: WiiSports, Super Mario 64 (VC)

Coming soon: Power Station, The Godfather: Blackhand Edition, Spider-Man 3, Classic Controller, Nunchuk

If you add my friend code to your Wii, please PM me first, so I can add you!

Consoles don't have compatability issues and are easier to use. therfore its good choice for some. Plus there not big and hefty. Well, not too big and hefty. Put id rather have a PC than anything else.

Sorry your all really exadurating. If you have a good pc it takes a while to go obselete, about as long as it takes for a console to run out of steam and force you to buy it's successor.

But Console over PC anyday, you can't relax PC gaming and the mouse is just inferoir to the c stick.

Ok a PC beats a console in most departments, but this is a pretty silly question when you think about it for the following reasons:

Consoles are now closer in terms of gfx to PC's than they ever have been before.
Consoles appeal a lot more to the casual gammer.
But most of all is cost, buy a pc and it'll be out of date in 6 months, but a console and you know its going to be good for 4/5 years.

I do have a pretty good gaming pc but I still see the advantage consoles have.
