Has anything been tweaked in the bios? have you tried returning them to default setting?
Not that I'm aware of, I certanly haven't touched anything!
I've tried doing the Windows repair from the system disk but it won't even let e do that, just get blue screen with an 0x000000051 error message. HP are going to pick it up on Tuesday and have a look as luckily it's still under warranty.

PS: I'm from the USA, so sadly my dumb wii wont connect to some Wii's in Europe n such...
I'll have a complete stab in the dark and say the problem is faulty memory mate. Not having seen the lappy / having the full error code it's only an educated guess.
HP will shove in some new RAM, test it, and ship it back.

Thats what they thought on the phone as i'd added some more ram before chritmas. However i swapped the new chips and put the old ones back in and still no luck. As long as they fix it or give me a new one i'll be happy.

What memory did you buy? If it's got a lifetime guarantee then I'd suggest getting that swapped out too, it could be that the lappy is frying memory.
I always use Corsair memory, and would advise others to also. Their warranty is extremely good.
Got it in, connected it all up and.......nothing! Blue lights all on but nothing on the screen and the HDD light wouldn't come on.
Phone HP up and explained and they told me to take out the power cable and battery and press and hold the power button for about a minute. Put the power cable back in and try again. Did this and hey presto!
However, got Misshoo to do a few checks (I'm at work, she's at home where the laptop is) and they've given me a bigger HDD than I had in it before (80 GB rather than 60). However because it's a new HDD it's got nothing on it. No Office, no broadband software, no photoshop, nothing. Just the standard install. Plus it has Norton on it now, which I spent ages trying to get rid of last time! Plus MissHoo tells me that the mouse has now frozen, so it looks like my problems aren't completely over.
Also got MissHoo to do afew checks and it only seems to have 256MB of RAM in it now, whereas it had 512MB when I sent it off! Luckily I had taken out the 2GB RAM chips I had upgraded it with as they weren't standard HP, so I'll swap them back in later. No matter, HP will be getting a phone call from me later!
