ah ha! Just got this big old GB cartridge to day for £2.99, only because the dude in the shop assured me it works on a DS. It don't even work on the micro!
It was unboxed, and the sticker looked like a (bit sketchy) picture of Mario driving the bat. Doubt I'll ever get a machine to play it on, but I own another Mario game!
I collected most the classic GBA series before getting rid when I got a PSP. But now I want them back, my niece says she loves them and always plays them. I HOPE SHE DOES!
All I have now though is Mariokart 64 vc on the Wii! oh yeah & New Super Mario Bros on DS. Whys that not your collection yet? It's a beaut!
Edit: I forgot Mario Party 8. I love that as a party game (its the 1st M.P. game I have played)

Yeah, Original GameBoy games don't work on the Nintendo DS. Shame really. Oh well, guess that makes the GBA still usefull for some time.
Duplicate post - sorry - my Firefox was playing up.

Sue!!! When I pick my chin off the floor, let me tell you I am seriously impressed! I want to be a kid growing up in your house!
Couple of questions. I loved Mario Tennis on the 64, would it be recommended to get the GBA version? I have seen it £15 pre-owned, and was tempted, would I be disappointed?
I hadn't heard of Mario Party Advance. I'm a new fan of the series, MP8 is my 1st and only experience. Again is the GBA one any good? Or would I do better to seek out a CG game. I think it was MP6 I have seen, with a microphone.
Any Mario advice gratefully received!

I can't believe where my old stack of gameboy games have disappeared to. :( Still quite a bit...
By the way Goemon when you say mario games do you mean games with mario as the title character ?
If not then I have some more games to add although I think a "mario game" would be mario as the main character so games like donkey konga and ones where mario just makes a cameo shouldnt count.
Ah well
Hey, we weren't counting spinoff games! Just games that actually featured Mario in them. If we were to count DK, Yoshi and Wario, I'd have another 15 or so games to add to the list!
Mario Tennis Advance was not to my liking, but my boys both liked it. It is an RPG and looks too much like a pokemon game to me. You have to walk all over campus at a University and meet people who tell you how to join the tennis club and enter tournamnets. Seems like AGES before you get to play tennis. I just gave up on it in a day. Whe I play Mario Tennis on N64 or GC, I want to play tennis!
It's awesome on GC, BTW! If you like the 64 version, you'd love that one! Highly recommended!
As for Mario Party Advance, don't bother. Terrible game. Should never have happened. Apparently the DS version, due out shortly, should be much better though.
Of the 4 GC Party Games, I would stringly suggest that you dig up MP4 (available in the Players Choice range, I think), which is my favourite to date, apart from MP8 on the Wii!
The 2 with Mics (6 & 7) did not work well. 7 was better than 6 as they refined a lot of the problems the mic games had in the first game. The biggest problem is voice recognition. It's not much fun shouting "banana" into the mic at a visual prompt only to be told you lost the game because you said "cherry" or whatever! Luckily you can disbale the mic games so you don';t need the mic, which is what we now do on both games.
Heh heh, yeah, it's great fun in this house. The Mario collection is just the tip of the iceberg! We got loads of games! That's why I'm always selling some off through Amazon!
Did I mention the DVD collection? Over 2000 - lost count now!
