pikmin 1 was great but was let down slightly by the time limit (day/night) thing and no multiplayer which the game was made for. The 2nd pikmin addressed both these points although i have not yet had the pleasure to play the 2nd, i can only imagine that its fantastic going by the first game.

I'm in the same position I enjoyed the first, and will probably get the second one day. I didn't mind the time limit so much, but would have been nice to have other game modes, where you weren't so stressed for time.

The story of the first one was that a tiny alien crash lands on a a planet and must repair his hip in 30 days or he will die from "poisonous oxygen" in the air. So he finds creatures called Pikmin which help him defeat the planets creatures and help him find the missing parts of the ship (30 in total).
Sounds really bad from the description I just gave, but it was really fun to play and addictive as hell. Not sure about the second game, though. I never had the plaesure of playing it. Great news the 3rd one will be available for the wii though!
and pikmin 3 has been announced for the wii, it's supposed to be arriving around January 2008
Care to add a source for this?
Been looking but I cant find confirmation for Pikmin 3.
To those that have never played it, part 2 is by far the superior of the two although it seems to be quite difficult to track down. (I bought a copy from Cex, without box or instructions, and it still cost 15 quid!)
