What are the best multiplayer games?

I mean on ALL consoles. Basically I posted here because there is no "all consoles" forum and most, if not all games people will post will probably be on nintendo platforms anyway.

I can't totally decide but Mario Kart (SNES) and Mario Kart 64 would be in there.

Even though I'm not an FPS guy, I really like Perfect Dark, especially Co-op, but its only great if its first time play.

Diddy Kong racing "jointventure" is great to play with a friend, I see it as killing two birds with one stone as you can complete the game this way too.

Sonic The Hedgehog 2 had great 2-player, split screen platformers are great, I suppose Sega didn't repeat this with Sonic 3 and Sonic & Knuckles because of the lag experienced in Sonic 2.

Sonic Adventure 2 (I played Gamecube version but I assume the Dreamcast versions more-or-less identical) was a really good two player game. Infact it maybe the best multiplayer sonic.

OK, both for the PC and both FPS.

UT2004 - sooo many mods, gametypes and maps, that it never tires of action and
Half life 2 deathmatch - where else can you nobble someone by flinging a toilet halfway across a room and then chucking half a dozen tables, radiators, paint pots, boxes etc etc just for the hell of it!

i say conflict desert storm 2 or mario karts double dash for gamecube

me and my m8 spent every day for about 4 years on conflict and we still play it every week

Perfect Dark Zero on the 360 is awesome as was WWF No Mercy on the N64 back in the day.

wii - mario strikers football
ds - metroid prime hunters
gba - pokemon
ps3 - resistance fom
360 - halo 3
GC - pikmin 2

Counter Strike - Half Life 2 mod.

By far the most played and imo best game out there.

But i used to love Halo 1, playing via xbconnect through a pc back in my uni days. Hours and hours was spent on that
