Future Nintendo Handhelds? - WiiTalk

I am considering buying a DS-Lite in the near future. However, before I do, does anyone know of any handhelds Nintendo has planned for release within the next year or two? I don't want to buy a console that has been out for a while, just to see a brand new one released a year later.

No, I don't believe Nintendo have announced any new handhelds. What games are you planning to get? You should get Mario Kart DS for sure

Yep, I will definately be getting Mario Kart. I played it the other day on a friends console and loved it! Not sure what else to get. Probably online games more so, so I don't get bored with the games.

there wont be one for another 2 years probs, well the gba came out 2001 and ds in 2004 but technology is gettin better so may be around 2009/10

that's more or less what I look for in a game. In that case I would also recommend Metroid Prime Hunters

the online mode is addictive as hell! I think Star Fox Command is online too but I haven't heard any reviews so you should check up on them if you want to get it.

i just got an r4 flash card from amazon and stuck loads of roms on it, currently playing cooking mama (ace) elite beat agents (wow) metroid pinball (groovy) and kirby mouse attack (fun platformer).

Nah i dont think there will be a new nintendo handheld for quite a while, the ds has only been out for 2 years and the ds lite only a year or so and it is the biggest selling handheld ever and still selling with some great games, the possibilities are endless for games for the ds aswell.

I think it will be a fair few years before we even hear about a new one, no doubt they are working on it just now, but again with the success of the ds just now there is no rush for nintendo.

Thanks for your thoughts! I will probably buy one over summer, when I've paid for another batch of driving lessons. I start a new job soon too, so I will have quite a bit of money coming in each week.

Bought me DS yesterday. Got it for £120, with More Brain Training and an accessory pack from HMV. It's a nice little machine, but I won't start really enjoying it until I have bought some 'proper' games ie. Mario Kart DS and New Super Mario Bros.
