Pokemon, A misunderstood Series - WiiTalk

Many people on here know about pokemon, and about all of us love it, but I find myself ridiculed because of my love of the pokemon games. I feel the pokemon games are an excellent series, keeping me entertained for hours, but it seems like pokemon has been put off as a "Stupid Kiddie" game. I find that the anime has ruined the pokemon series. If you don't know, here is the plot.

Does anyone else feel the pokemon series is mis-judged because of the anime. Hell, in class the day after brawl came out, I was talking to my friend about using Pokemon Trainer, and this kid walks up and says "oh my god, what a moron, you still play pokemon?"

I know what you're saying Sky. Just don't let it get to you. Different strokes for different folks mate.

Anyway, Ash is not to blame. Its those bloody Team Rocket and Meowth that drags it down.

And Brock is a full on red blooded male so it's not his fault either.

Hell ya, who could forget brock.
The early episodes were all right, but then they started getting worse and worse until now they are utter crap. I just wish people wouldn't judge the game from the series, especially since the game came first

People will judge Sky. It's human nature. Just leave them be and don't pay them too much attention.

Some of your friends would say that because it makes them feel more "adult" and has one over you. Its an ego trip.

The only good thing about the anime was team rocket :P. (atleast they where in the first few series 10-8 years ago)

The the games on the handhelds are all solid RPG's and last a long time, but are indeed branded "kiddie" most of the time thanks the the anime.

Also...i want a pokemon game on the wii that's acctually an RPG and has brilliant online!..... back to dreaming.

Well, I make no secret of the fact that my kids love Pokemon. My eldest is growing up fast - he is 12 this October, and shows no signs of going off the franchise.

They have had virtually a lifetime's entertainment from these games, and I don't mock them at all.

Although they know virtually NO ONE who echoes their enthusiasm. I think a few of their friends bought Diamond or Pearl because they were big sellers in the game charts, but they haven't bought any other pokemon games since.

Me, I still love to challenge either one of my kids to a tournament in Pokemon Stadium 2 on our N 64, which I thoroughly enjoy. I don't have time for RPGs, but I enjoy a good pokemon battle.

pokemon Used to be good
but you just grow out of it me after ruby sapphire
i think it turned into a cash in when they add:
a pokemon you cant get unless you go to an "event" or buy action replay... also adding random pokemon every game to have more and make it longer is tedious
and having to trade to get certain pokemon and make them evolve.
i could go on but its long.....

Never been a fan and never played the games, mostly because, you guessed it, I was put off from the games because of the series. Unfortunately, that's the breaks when you connect a game in name to a series.

Glad you like it though. I wouldn't stop playing it if I were you.

SKyman, totally agree. I don't beleive it's the animes fault, just the general media appearence that PokeMon has created over the years.

To be honest, it can be (at times) a complex game, it does have a kiddy feel, but then again most Nintendo franchises do, if your comfortable with it then roll with it.
