Default NES how much are they worth?

I have the opportunity to buy an NES with zapper fully boxed in great condition for £50.

Would this be a good investment? Is it likely that I would be able to sell it on for quite a lot more?

I'm seriously considering buying it because I can't imagine there are many available that are in such good condition!

I would check the listings on ebay and see what they are going for. There are plenty being sold on there.

I have checked Ebay, and most people seem to be selling them for somewhere around £50. However none of them seem to be in very good condition compared to the one I am thinking of buying.

I am not generally one for buying and selling such things, I don't like having stuff cluttering up the house but this does seem like a good opportunity.

Personally I don't think its a good investment and certainly it won't be worth a lot more anytime soon. The carts are not going to be easy to obtain either. Its just my hunch but I think you're better off keeping your money dude.

Perhaps you are right. I don't want to fork out for something that I am going to be lumbered with!

I am quite interested in getting into buying and selling retro stuff but I am not that clued up on it.

I got my hands on a sealed copy of Twighlight Princess for the Game Cube a few months back. I opened it played it for a few days then traded it in and bought a Wii. That was a big mistake! Sealed copies are very rare and going for loads now!

Sealed copies are a different matter altogether. As with anything new - you win some you lose some. I have perfect copies of the whole series of X-Men 2099 (1993 - 1996) thinking it might be worth something someday but its worth nadda today .

It would be a good investment if you plan on playing it. You won't make any money if you plan on buying and selling it though, in fact you may even lose money.

With more and more games coming out on Virtual Console I don't think it's worth buying it for playing the games either, VC makes many titles easier to find and you don't need to swap carts to change games.

I love my nes and would never part with it,

but if you say its in the condition it is, boxed and all, you could add extra's and maybe get a gain, but I really couldn't see the effort =]
