Once you get to the second (maybe third) pokecenter you can access the wifi room downstairs (turn right at the main entrance to go down) .. .. .. the first time you go there you will be given a 'pal pad' which is used to store all of your wifi information and can be found with the other 'key items' in your bag. Go online once to generate your Friend Code and then view it in the pal pad.

ahh right, I guessed that id find it in that downstairs wifi bit but i thought I just got the option to register my friends and couldnt see my friend code. Will try again now, thanks!
