Default Game Boy games on DS

Is there any way to play these on the DS, ie via an adaptor or something?

I know you can play GBA games on it, but I want to relive my youth a bit more and play super mario land without having to buy a game boy as well??

Ta muchly

Would be good if they released an adapter for the ds, however you can pick up an original gameboy or even a gameboy colour for less than a tenner these days.

luckily i still have my original grey brick of a gameboy which still works brilliantly.

LOL i was actually watching a program the other that was set in todays world of technology and there was a wee boy playing the original gameboy, he must have been like 10 or summin, i couldnt believe it.

Unfortunately the DS doesnt have the Zilog Z80 chip in it which the Gameboy series used (up to and including the GBA). With no chip backwards compatibility there is no way the games can run. Incidentally the Z80 chip was also missing from the GBA Micro, hence why the micro also is not backwards compatible.

Sorry it's not a positive answer.

Remember Starfox & Stunt Race FX on the SNES? They had the Super FX chip built on the game cartridge rather than the actual console, Nintendo could have the Z80 chip built into a flash cart or work around it somehow with software or something.. Gameboy ROMs are playable on PC's etc without that chip also
