Default DS overview

Hiya all.

My better half has just got herself a DS, a spur of the moment thing.

I was just wondering what it could do (other than play games, of course!)
I've had a quick look on the internet, but still confused!

a) Wireless connectivity? I know it can communicate between other DS's, but can it connect to my wireless router and access the internet? If so, is there something like a web browser available, and if so, how do you get it (can you download to the DS's memory (if it has one!) of do you have to buy it as a cartridge like a game?
What about online games? Do they exist?

b) Interaction with the Wii? I'm sure I heard something about this before? Do it exist?

c) Games - What do people recommend as a must have? Got the brain training and New Super Mario already.

d) Anything I've missed out???!

Cheers everybody!

Yes you can access the Internet via your router, but you'll need to go and buy the Browser. (costs around £20 the last time I checked)

Yes, there are online games - Mario kart DS is probably the most popular.

For Wii/DS interaction - No official word as of yet but probably just a matter of time.

I've got the same games as you plus Yoshis Island so I cant really reccomend any games, I'm sure that others will though.

Dont waste money on any games.

Get a R4DS. I can do you one with a 2gb sd card for £45 inc recorded delivery.

2gb will hold around 60 - 70 roms. All you have to do is plug it in and play as i can load all the roms on for you.

the R4 is so cool it's unbelievable, or you could get one from amazon for £22 and a 1Gb micro sd card for £7 plus postage which will hold around 25 - 30 games.

a) Yes it can access the internet via your wireless router (uses WEP security though, not WPA or WPA2).
Yes there is a web browser (approx £30) that has a memory expansion that sits in the GBA slot.
Online games? you mean games that connect to other users over the internet? If so, the Mario Kart DS, 42 All Time Classics, Pokemon D/P, for example use this

b) Wii interaction - when PBR is released then you will be able to use the DS as a controller, as well as transferring Pokemon from the DS to the Wii. Other titles will be able to follow suit. . . . will they? probably!

c)Pokemon, MK, 42 ATCs, Yoshis Island

d) Think that covers it!

Cheers for all your replies!

So there is no internal memory, but you can get a sd card?

I'll have a look at the R4DS thing now!

It isn't as long as you don't put games on the card. For example, you can put music and videos on the cards to listen to on your DS.
