I did got this;

Get ready for the rumor frenzy. According to EDGE, analyst Michael Pachter is telling investors that, with DS sales taking a dive in Japan and PSP on the rise, Nintendo may release a new handheld game console by year's end:

We think that the timing of a new product introduction will depend upon the sales profile for the DS, and believe that lower than expected DS hardware sales could trigger an earlier launch for the new device. DS sales are solid worldwide, but are weak in Japan, leading us to expect an introduction of a new device in Japan before the end of the calendar year. We think that Nintendo has a new handheld device ready for launch in [Japan] before the end of the calendar year.

So there might be a new design DS end of this year, But still no info about their new handheld. :(

Last month, there were rumors that a new version of Nintendo’s DS handheld gaming device was on its way. Today, IGN learned that the rumor is most likely true, and that we should be seeing the new version by April or May of next year.

Rumored changes include touchpad functionality on both screens, and a wider screen aspect ratio. There is no word yet on whether the next version will just be a revision, or a completely new DS. Meanwhile, Sony is already on it’s third version of it’s PSP console.

I think the DS Lite is fine. If they are going to make a new one, make it different, not with a bigger screen. Who is gonna give up with their DS Lite to get one with a bigger screen?>!

Looking at the dates, we are actually due a new handheld. The DS came out in 2004. The GBA before it came out in 2001, that's only three years and we are currently at 4 for the DS.

To me those pics look like a photoshopped I-Phone.

I'd be surprised to see a new DS launched in the next year, but I think an announcement alluding to a new handheld might make an appearance at one of the shows (maybe as the centrepiece for E3 09)?

Yea, its about time for a new handlheld from them. They have to come out with a new one in less time, since theirs doesn't have the features that the PSP has. Having the DVD feature gives it a little more staying power.

And yea, that probably is a photoshopped I-Phone. I doubt there are even any public designs out for such a handheld yet beyond computer.

Although, do you think E3 '09 is a little late to debut the concept. I think we'll be hearing more about it before then.

Maybe a full scale media shower at E3 then, and an announcement earlier. Either way I don't expect Nintendo to let E3 09 pass in lacklustre style like 08, and with rhumours of a new DS, maybe the timing is right?
