Cooking Guide: Can't Decide What to Eat?

I was browsing the new Nintendo Channel, when I came upon this in the new releases.

Firstly I would recommend you go and watch the video on the Nintendo Channel. It really is quite strange...and yet somehow compelling.

Cooking Guide, guides you through a recipe and can be controlled by voice command. It also has a built in timer and shopping list, the best feature of which is scaling ingredients so you can easily increase the amount of portions.

Not your usual DS game, (but then there have been some really different ideas for the DS that have worked, Brain Training etc.) and not all that fun, but I thought it was an interesting side-note.

The wife and I had a good laugh seeing thison the video. Imagine taking your DS to the supermarket to as part of a shopping list - . (Just in-case you didn't know, you can mark the ingredients you don't have so you can buy them in the shops).

I reckon this is more like a cookbook than anything else. Would like to know how many recipes are in there though. I don't think I will be getting this somehow, have enough cookbooks as it is.

I can't really see the point in this game tbh. Like Nazz said why would you want to take a DS to the supermarket or use it as a shopping list?

I'm not sure about cooking type games. I was looking at the case of Cooking Mama on the Wii at the weekend and thought what a strange game it looked. Obviously that sort of thing appeals to some people though.

Difference is, Cooking Mama was a game, this is simply a reference guide. But the fact that it guides you through step-by-step and has videos for the more difficult parts is good.

But I agree, I doubt very much that I will be getting this. Just seemed interesting.

Yes, the 'game' does look interesting and I hope there will be more innovative titles like this in the future. Hayne's Manual on ds anyone ?? Snazy's guide to dating ??

Thanks. It's about time.

This is the one area where the DS beats the Wii. Whilst both are innovative and have introduced new gaming ideas, the DS seems to reach out beyond and have other uses.

Also, I'm waiting for Red Dazes Quiz game.

Whilst the idea won't appeal to many its still an innovative use of the DS.

I like the idea but its not worth much of my money.

I rekon Nintendo are onto a real winner with this one, as a slightly older DS owner It would be a nice touch to take your DS into the kitchen instead of a boring old cook book.

Cook book for a new generation perhaps? Why not
