Halo 3 would be better if the campaign was better (I thought it was supposed to be better than Halo 2, which people didn't like) and if the online play was a bit more balanced.
The campaign is far too short, and if you've played one Halo, you've pretty much played them all (kill aliens, kill aliens, oh crap flood, kill flood and aliens, reach end of game and take part in some annoying driving section where you pilot something that handles like the shopping trolley I always get at Tesco with a gammy wheel).
The online mode basically has you playing either deathmatch or oddball in one of what, four maps?
I know for a fact that there's more, but the game would rather kill a bag full of kittens than give you access to them (and Bungie being a Microsoft company, it probably does).
The weapons are more balanced thankfully and there's no dual wielding for needlers, which is a good idea as although I'm not going to claim that I avoid them, needlers mainly serve to make players with no talent at all into gods.
I've only got 19 achievements to get in Halo 3, many of which are from the online modes, and considering that I got all of the achievements I have in only a few weeks of playing on and off while also playing Bioshock (I will get the last achievements for this when my 360 is out of hospital), Forza 2 (needs more variety) and some other games (Blue Dragon is awful), it did feel a little on the easy side.
If I had to choose between Halo 3 and some other FPS such as Half Life: The Orange Box or Bioshock, then Halo 3 would probably lose out as there's nothing new about it, it's not the eye melting graphics fest Bungie said it was and the story is let down by another half assed chapter.
