Hi, I've decided to get a 360 to go along with my wii because i've got some spare money and this seemed like the best way of using it.
So anyway i've got about £300 to spend, so is it worth getting the elite for about £250 then getting a game and possibly a controller. Or do you think it would be better getting the normal one for £180ish and getting 2 or 3 games and another controller?

I don't know much about 360's sorry, I am sure Nicko or someone will be along with a more helpful answer soon...

But I would say..if it was me, get the one for £150-180ish and get a few games aswell

While this was a debate thread between 360 and PS3, it does provide some useful information about the elite and the regular to get you started. Might be useful.

PS3 or 360, Which really costs more?

Anyway, I'd recommend getting the Premium package over the Elite as it frees up a bit more money for games, controllers etc... In the end it's up to you obviously, although personally I'd avoid the Core package as a hard drive is a must.

Well,

Seeing as your budget will let you get any model the only thing you need to consider is,

Do you really need 120GB of storage,..or will 20GIG's do you fine,

The cost difference between the elite and premium will mean you will be able to pick up atleast 2 games and a controller for the price of the elite,

Both the consoles are exactly identical bar the elite is all black and has 100 more gigabytes.

My opinion is that 20GB is far more than adequate for storing songs/demos/game saves etc so I'd recommend getting a premium edition.

The arcade version simply isn't worth getting as the price difference simply doesn't justify not gaining a HDD, HDTV cable and live headset.

You might want to know that all of the new Microsofts consoles contain the new flacon motherboards,GPU's and CD drives,

these are said to have a 30% less chance of failure,..whether this is true or not I'd definately make sure you get the latest hardware as anything would be an improvement on the old batches,...

Old batches are still out there so a simple check to see if you're getting the latest one is to look at the PSU unit first and make sure it is 175W,....if it says 203W DO NOT accept and insist on the lower wattage,

also you can check the cd drive, the new ones come with a BenQ drive:

All latest editions also feature HDMI ports also,..

I think i'll get the premium one then so i can get some more games. That was my first instinct but i was just seeing if the elite system was worth the extra £60-70, but after reading your comments, the 20gb system seems good.

I'm gonna buy it with GTA 4 and Halo 3.
