9 from me, its my favourite Wii game by a long way.
I looked forward to it for a long time and its actually even better than I thought it would be. The freedom and control it gives you just blows me away, and its got depth to it as now over a month of solid playing later I'm still learning.
The main difference between this and old style footy games is control. You can control all the off the ball movement as well as just the guy with the ball. My mate had a go and asked if you can do through passes - you can if you can time the run and pick out the man, not just press the triangle button. It feels really strange and limited to go back to moving a player with an analogue stick on a playstation controller after you've played this.
I think they did a great job on the overall package too not just the controls, loving the champions road element and the online play is great.
There are one or two wrinkles to be fixed in the next version (could expand the online, allow better editing etc) but nothing that impacts how much fun this game is to play, and the next releases can only improve.
A slight downfall of it is that it doesn't work too well when your mates come round to pick up as a 2 player game, having 2 cursors on screen is confusing and it takes time to get used to the controls (thats probably more due to the slowness of my mates tbh tho)
I'd say if your even vaguely interested in football you have to get this, and make sure you give it long enough to get used to. When you master it you can pretty much forget your playing, its more like watching a match but telling the players what to do.
