I thought I'd write a beginners online Guide to MoH, for N00bs written by a N00b!

Well first off I find it easier to use the MP40 as my starting weapon, on the Axis team. This purely because it holds more bullets than the Thompson, so when your spread firing and hoping to hit something you don't run out of ammo as fast!

With regards to actually killing someone, I find that if you shoot in a small circle around the enemy, you usually end up getting a few body hits, and if your lucky a head shot!

I would try and go in a server that has between 4 and 10 players in, so your not contiually being mowed down by pros. Don't go in servers that say beginers only or N00bs unless you know the people you are playing, or it is password protecting, as I find these servers are set up to entice the new players into so the pros can get a higher score!!!

Try and play with the guys on this forum, as they are all very friendly and will welcome you with a friendly bullett to the head!!

Cooking grenades is a must, which is where you hold down A before you actually throw the grenade. Hold it for around 3 seconds and aim in the general direction of the enemy and your most likely to get a kill.

Grenade spamming (continually throwing grenades) is a big no no on this forum, and is generally frowned upon, so try and switch between grenades and bullets.

As for the other weapons, I would advise to use the Hmg's in generally the same manner as the MP40 and Thomson.

The rifles imo are extremley hard to use, and I tend to fire off alot of shots at log distance in the hope of getting a head shot.

I havent used the snipers as such, so this is still a work in progress! I have been told be a reliable source (Hoo ) to learn to shoot without using the scope first, then practice zooming in and out quickly.

I have not got the hang of lag shooting (where you predict the player will run to) but this is also something you must get used to if you want to be up there with the best!

I have no practice with the shotgun whatsoever, so I'm afraid that ones up to you!

I hope this helps all the n00bs joining this forum who want to become a pro, and remember, if at first you don't succeed, Try, Try, Try, Try, Try and Try again!!!!!

Sticky?

Umm this is more your comment on the game, But I will help you.

Fighting a shotgun
1. Shotguns have a 8 ammo clip and it sprays like 6 bullets, Try to shoot the shotgunners at distance.

2. There are 2 types of shotguners, 1 aiming for the head(Try to duck alot of time). 2 aiming for the body(weaker then aiming for the head but DON'T DUCK!)

3. Shotguns are weak VS Bazookas, Snipers,(Grenades) and they need to be close at you so keep you distance!

4. Don't rush to a shotgun it will end you up dead lol don't move circkels because the shotgun needs to lagshoot most of the time.

5. Defensive shotguners, They hide behind a wall for you to show up and kill you in 1 shot, They run when there is 2 people fighting and comes back to shoot em, Attackers shotguners, They rush to kill you fast, Try to get him while he is reloading.

6. Use the walls trees barrels whatever you can think of hide and shoot the guy!

7. If your close to a shotguner and it's hard try running in him to get behind him to confuse him a bit and kill him.

8. Shotgun vs Shotgun AIM FOR THE HEAD! xD and duck sometimes.

Hope this helps!

I think I may sticky this IF more people share their advice . Then it may well serve as a good guide to not only the necomers but to all .
I think any input regarding sensitivity and deadzone settings could well prove usefull to a lot of us too .

But if this is a guide thread then we don't really want too many discussions going on ...I think most discussions are best kept in the general thread .
For instance ...if someone doesn't agree with someone elses advice then instead of argueing the toss they should just submit their own advice in a similar way to what Bert and Ebel has .

Lets see how it goes for now .

-Lagshooting
-Reload glitching
-Stay away from rifles as starter weapons
-Use obstacles around you to get cover, strafe and crouch also while shooting. DO NOT STAND STILL WHEN SHOOTING.
You don't have to hold down A while cooking a grenade...

There you go.

And a minor correction to ebel's post: 1 shotgun shell consists of 8 bullets.... :P

Edit:
Aiming sense should be low to mid. Horizental view should be high. Vertical viewing speed is less important, but if you sometimes do that putting down your mote while on deathcam or something and suddenly look into the ground when spawning you might wanna put it on high :P
Deadzone should be small

Grenade stuff:
Aim slightly to the right of where you wanna hit.
Learn to bounce off walls.
Make kicking your own non-cooked drop grenades, as well as grenades landing at your feet a natural movement.
Suicide bomb by holding the grenade and rush into people if you're in absolutely hopeless situations, like being attacked by 3 people in a TDM (And this can actually sometimes get all 3 opponents out as well.)

General axis vs ally weapon tendendy:
Allies weapons generally wanna aim lower than axis - their bullets course are higher.

Sniping stuff:
Aim for the very top of the head with the snipers on standing opponents to be sure it's going to be a headshot and not just a damaging shot that also knocks off the helmet. On moving targets you might wanna aim a little lower to be sure to hit.
When finding spawning people, don't scope kill them. Either simply grenade them or go all the way up to them so a no scope cannot miss the head. This is unless the spawn is of course all the way across the map like you might experience in port :P
Umm. No scope (can't comment much on it), but don't forget your pistol and grenades.

shotgun stuff:
The closer you are to the target the higher (closer to the head) you wanna aim. Due to the bullet spread and you wanting to hit with all bullets it's a good idea to aim slightly lower from midrange. TURN AUTOPUMP OFF! It is much MUCH faster to pump yourself. If you think you are close to kill your target and don't think you need 8 shells to finish him, you can melee (or switch weapon) to stop the reload animation and pump your gun at any given number.

SMGs: Both SMGs gets a much more steady shot when crouched. This is especially useful for the mp40, the thompson has a pretty steady shot either way so it's less useful for that one. When crouched you however also move slower and are easier to headshot for others so only do it at ranges or briefly for dodging methods. Shooting in bursts instead of wasting ammo from your clip while the opponent takes cover is a good idea. Switch to pistol often, but still only if you are confident that you dealt damage. You can also start up dealing some damage with a pistol on range if you're more comfortable with that. Switching to pistol with the mp40 shouldn't happen as often as with the thompson due to it's reload glitch making it's reload animation close to as fast as switching to pistol animation.

HMGs: Very similiar to SMGs. Less burst shooting neccesary due to it's bigger clips and slower firerate, and short reloads (especially reload glitched). Pistols hardly neccesary. Good even longrange and the gunpoint is useful even when standing, especially for the StG which is hax at this and can beat the average sniper on port easily if you get the hang of it's gunpoint.

Rfiles: Very opposite shotgun. Shotgun wants to be all up close, but rifles want to be as far away as possible (except against snipers where they might want midrange instead :P). Try to stay at decent distance. The gunpoint with the karabiner is slightly unreliable/inaccurate, but it offers a double-shot glitch if you drop out of it right after shooting you will be able to skip the "pumping" animation and shoot instantly. The garand can only reload when you empty a clip so if you have 1-3 shots left and no one is around you might wanna just waste those bullets since the rifles aren't exactly the guns that lacks ammo (you'll practically never experience running out) and the only thing it really hurts is your accuracy stat.

All i can think of right now.

A simple addition from me - which costs many lives.....

BEWARE THE RELOAD POINTS in CTF games - the little white bit you go to to top up ammo etc...if you have any damage at all - you die when you touvch the reload point - if an enemy even taps you woth a bullet or shrapnel and you walk in to the white bit - you die..

i suggest you take cover if poss for a few seconds after a nade - or few shots - before you advance to ammo...

(The above tip has been covered before and will undouubtedly cost me in death count - i always get a few sneaky ones from the noobs...

As I said at TEC, I think it's just lag. Wait a second even after your screen is completely clear.
