Theres a pretty intresting misconception circulating the forums that
Wii = fun
Xbox 360 = hardcore
PS3 = expensive
Now this is starting to annoy me, since from the misiformation I find regularly on the forum most of you simply do not have a clue what your talking about.
Now this Wii = fun thing your on about its childish, how can you just assume the Wii is the fun console and the others arn't? are you going to argue that fun is central to the Wii like it isn't to the 360 / PS3? The Wii only provides the minimum of what the 360 / ps3 do that is fun. Some people find listening to music fun / watching movies fun / playing online fun... proportunatly if im being as silly as you guys the Wii is not as fun as the PS360. If people don't care about Wiisports / Zelda is there anything of intrest?
And another thing thats bugging me, people who say Xboxlive is over priced, well by the time you get shafted £30 for a USB adapter for the Wii (when unofficial are £10) youve still payed a considerable price for your wii online (or lack of) experience.

Not everyone has to buy a USB adaptor, like me, so my online play with the Wii is free. And isn't the subscription £30 for a year for the XBox? Therefore once you've bought the adaptor, you don't need to pay any more, whereas with the XBox you have to pay more next year.
Sorry that was just me being picky. I suspect XBox live is worth the £30, because of the amount of games online. But hopefully when more online games are released, Nintendo's online facilities can rival that of Microsoft's.
Alot of hatedread there my friend, I have a wii myself and I think its great, it could be better and by that I mean online play, Mario strikers online is very poor simply beacuse your score resets every week, however in saying that I think the console is very good, I have played the xbox 360 on many occassions myself and I think it is also excellnet, The diffence between the two? Nintendo have better and make better games. That is a fact!
I agree the xbox online service is amazing however wait you you have some real competition before you start mouthing off how great your online is, because within the next few months the wii have some amazing titles coming out all that are online, the likes of Smash Bros, Fifa 08, Battalion wars 2, Forever blue and so on
To summarize I agree that there is things lacking on the wii department at the minute but I remember things were things were very simliar with the 360 within its first year also. Things didnt pick up until the 360 got gears of war.
If you hate you wii so much here's a piece of advice, sell it, get off a wii forum and stop Nintendo bashing!

I have to disagree. It gives other people the chance to get on the leaderboard, especially if they have just bought the game. And when you first log in, you can view your total wins, losses and points anyway.

Im not bashing, Im not commenting on the Wii at all, im commenting on the short sightedness of people who state Wii = fun / 360 = hardcore / ps3 = expense

@ JBond my point is that the USB is over priced wether or not you need it.

I agree with you that games consoles shouldn't be "pidgeon-holed", but that is the nature of people I'm afraid.
We're beings who like to categorise things. Helps us make sense of the world and is unlikely to ever stop.
It also isn't helped when there is an obvious surplus of one genre on one console and another on another.
Having said that, here's my own classification (quite general but that's the point ):
Wii equals unique/innovative interface
PS3 equals 360
I'm not saying any one is better or worse in the above statement....just that to all intents and purposes PS3 and 360 are pretty much the same console with the same games, same graphics and same target audience.
Who cares about having to pay £2.50/month for online for one and not the other? Who cares about the fact that one has a (currently) inferior online service? Overall both consoles are trying to achieve the same goals and give you THE SAME experience overall.
Which leaves the Wii.....which is the only console at least attempting to deliver a NEW experience to gamers.
Hardcore gamer is a term used to describe a type of video game player whose leisure time is largely devoted to playing or reading about video games. This type of gamer prefers to take significant time and practice on games, in contrast to a casual gamer. Many hardcore gamers pride themselves on mastering the rules or use of a game, although this is not a strict requirement.
As this is a thread about popular misconceptions, it seems appropriate to add that NOWHERE in the definition does it mention any particular type of game as being hardcore. So, therefore the wii is hardcore (if you want it to be!)
