The line between the modern gamer and the internet is becoming increasingly blurred. With it an incredibly implosive subculture has been founded. Not the fanboy, not the none-gamer but the idiot.

Yes, over time thanks to the internet more and more gamers have conformed to the idiot stereotype. Be it a dedication to a terrible brand due to a lack of experience with the competition or one of those people who calls for tolerance in heated internet debates.

Take for example the case study of SDF Sony Defense Force this website is not endorsed by Sony and is probably very damaging to their debacle of a PR campaign.

Lets remind ourselves of this of course...


Because we live in an commercial country of free thinking and artistic impression, this won't offend anyone!


Nor is placing these at underground tube stations on the wall adjacent the platform inappropriate.

Now Sony Defence force is an deliberately amateur (or ran by idiots) news site, that claims to be 100% unbiased.

Just look around for some entertaining news articles, A 10/10 for Lair a game more critics would totally underwhelming, a 4/10 for Bioshock claiming it would have been a 10 if it appeared on a playstation 3 due to the magical power of blue ray and these fellas.


Undeniable proof that the PS3 is dominating the Wii and X360

1: PS3 Outsold Xbox360, true fact. Anyways, 50% of Xbox360 are break, because of his 3rd world materials, kthxbye.

2: The reason because GTA was delayed, its 360 fault. Because, x360 doesnt have any special programming, and is not hard to create a game, so they can sell you a piece of **** and xboxers will buy it anyway. PS3 needs a TRUE programming, PS3 needs quality, so it takes a bit longer, and only true gamers will buy the game for PS3.

All ports are “bad” on PS3 because of x360, anyways, 360 is going down FAST, so, who cares about 360 since microsoft is failing like the old xbox.

3: I have a 60gb PS3, so, what’s the problem if 40gb ones cant play PS2 games? is just like an Add-on, if you want to play PS2 games, run them in PS2 like everyone does. Maybe you are one of those that wants to run a SNES game on DS, using the old game cart, better luck next time xboxtroll.

4: PS3 outsold 360 on Japan, even Wii outsold 360, everyone knows that, because Japan hates microsoft and they just want quality before retardism and easy-programming games.

5: PS3 is better than Xbox360 on all ways.

PS3 has better graphics.

PS3 has a RAM 7 times faster than xbox360.

PS3 has a Cell, like 10 times better than the 360.

PS3 has Blu-Ray, not like 360 with DVD, and the DEAD HD-DVD.

Actually, PS3 is better, the only problem is that companys have to research more for it, just wait FFXIII and you will see what’s a game, and not the child-programming xbox ones, they make a game in 4 months because is easy to programm, xbox fans will buy their ****ty games anyways, to get more xbox points and play tetris online or something.

6: PS2 was better than the old Xbox, because Xbox doesnt have any complicated programming. Just compare God of War or FFXII with any Xbox game, there’s an example of the TRUE gamming-programming. Xbox games were made with an advanced RPG maker or something, easy stuff.

7: Is so funny to watch xbox fans posting here, crying like the child do, and defending a dead console.

So, xbox child, I know that is hard to accept the fact that Xbox failed like HD-DVD, and I know is hard to accept that companys scams xbox fans with easy-programming games, but, is the reality, accept those facts, sell your 360 and buy a PS3, you have time now, dont keep failing. Anyways, the 90%+ of the xbox fans, will buy a PS3 thanks to Metal Gear and FFXIII, you know how this works, the best games goes to the best company =) even Wii have better games than Xbox, Failure company is Failure.

SDF overall is a perfect example of internet idiocy. The other example is Xbox live where you learn just how much every country, subculture, race hate everything they don't understand. It's a classic human condition brought forward by the fact ww2 was 60 years ago and people love to bring up wars that they had no part in themselves to score points for their country. Everybody hates the usuals, Jews and Blacks but its nothing special on Xbox live. You also get 8 year old kids screaming their head off, swearing and all sorts can nobody here you? does your Mum not ban you from Xbox live for being so utterly hate filled?

Before the internet the world seemed to at least in theory seem peaceful, people playing with their friends more, normal people didn't get to speak to foreign people and be shocked that they were hated. In short we just weren't as stupid.


Or so goes the argument that it was always like this, it just took the idiot time to realise other people hold his/her 'wrong' opinions (and yes there is such thing, such as calling the Nazis acceptable or inflation all of Gordon Brown's fault) and that together you can make an even bigger mess. It is amazing some of the sites and comments that appear on the internet now regarding gaming. As you say, what was fanboy has now just developed into pure idiocy where the people in question seem to need constant reassurance that the choice they made was not only the correct one for them, but the choice that everyone should make. As if they also need to feel as though they are part of the majority. To the point where they are willing to throw out all logic, facts and information!

This could only happen on a place like the internet where people's identities are hidden. Therefore they can be as obnoxious, ignorant or just plain offensive as they want to be without the fear of possible repercussions on their own 'Real' lives.

I find it interesting how the main 'comments' on the internet seem to be in the 360 vs PS3 category and the Wii is often only mentioned in passing, often in an attempt to put the other console down further(E.G, to quote that brilliant letter!, 'even Wii have better games than Xbox'). Before the Wii was released, it got a hell of a bashing from these people. In fact the 360 and PS3 'Forces' almost united against it, as it was not a 'proper' gaming machine. It seems now that, since the release of the Wii and it's superb success, the two forces have now turned on each other instead in an attempt to prove who is 'wrong'.

The sad thing is that we will always have this in gaming and, as you say, it will only get worse. However, there will always be the opposite of the idiot as well Let's just hope we'll have somewhere to meet!

Good read!! I hadn't even heard the term "fanboy" before joining WiiTalk a while back. For me, this kind of tosh is funny. I once mentioned to some mates down the pub about my addiction to the Wii......they took the Michael for a while. I didn't mention the PS3 when I got it. I guess all this nonsense is something that the younger generation thrive on???

It isn't just gamers that have made comments that most might consider inappropriate or stupid in the public forum. It's everyone. Have any of you ever read the comments posted after any sort of politically charged article? The comments made go from insane to outrageous to pointless. Its like the internet removes the filter everyone has on their speech and makes people forget that they still live in a society and people can still read they're comments. It's almost as if all the ***holes in the world get together, go online, and lambast everything they see until they're satisfied that everyone feels worse about themselves and each other. Crazy.

I didn't actually, but the xbox has only just xbox360, not the MS family...
