Cool hey there :)

hey there - i'm a support worker for teenagers with learning difficulties and challenging behaviour at a residential school - there are three houses here, one has a wii and its doing the kids a world of good to help their co-ordination and also become interested in age appropriate games etc etc

Thing is i dont work in that house but where I work the kids want one, so i thought i'd see what info i could get but it seems everywhere is all sold out !

Anyone know where in the uk one can be ordered and for what price? (only want a basic one) and anyone got any ideas on how it can help people with disabilities

thanks in advance

Aparantly places like gamestation have them in now, but youll probably have to reserve one untill the next shipment arrives.

Gamestation is where I got mine from. Somewhere on the site there was a place to put your email address and the day after I entered mine I recieved an email telling me that at 10am they were getting some in stock on their web site.

At 10:05 I had ordered and paid for my Wii. I guess I was lucky!

The Wii Sports package will be great for getting coordination skills developed and if you have room you can have 4 player tennis which will get them working in pairs thus developing teamwork skills.

Bowling can have up to 4 players and you can either have 4 controllers or just the one which they will have to share whilst taking it in turns to bowl.

Wii Play (which comes with a controller) has 8 small games which will also help with hand to eye coordination.

If you manage to get a Wii I am sure they wont realise they are learning some skills but simply having fun playing on the Wii!

A mate of mines 5 year old enjoys playing bowling on mine and what she is learning at the moment is that you don't have to come first to have fun. If she doesn't come in 1st place she gets in a strop, thanks to our encouragement she is beggining to see that it is the taking part that counts and winning is just a bonus!

Just now it seems to be a case of keep phoning your local Game / gamestation / HMV / etc, and hope you get the timing right.

Hope you get one.

Hi (and welcome to the forums)

The basic Wii price is £180....which includes a game and 1 nunchuck and 1 wiimote.

To make the most of the Wii (esp. in your setting), i'd also get the following:
WiiPlay (which is a game plus a wiimote)....for £45
2 more Wiimotes....for £60 total
3 more nunchucks....for £45 total

which makes a grand total of £330
for the console, 4 wiimotes, 4 nunchucks and 2 games

...these are all rrp's btw, i'm sure i've seen wiiplay for cheaper elsewhere for instance.

As mentioned, the games will teach coordination as well as teamwork and above all FUN

Hi Xploit,

I cant really add to what the others have suggested because a lot of it is down to luck as to where you can find them.

Welcome to forum...!

hehe kungfumaster - we've secured funding to purchase a wii but it'll be locked in the cupboard and with strict supervision - place i work is quite disruptive at times too (and i got the scars to prove it )
