Default Wireless Sensor Bar from '4Gamers'

Having my Wii hooked up side by side with a projector, the first obstacle I encountered when I got my Wii, was that with my first over enthusiastic Wii tennis forehand, I managed to rip out the cable from the original sensor bar. Back to the drawing board then....

I've read various articles about using candles, or making my own wireless bar but due to a lack of brains and fear of hard work, I decided to just buy a wireless sensor bar. I eventually plumped for a version made by 4Gamers, and cost me £7 (Amazon)

And I'm very happy with it. Out of the box it is a little bit bigger than the Nintendo wired version. Same length but chunkier all the way round to make room for the batteries, but it's as inconspicuous as a hi-fi remote control to be honest.

Performance wise, it's just as good as the wired version and my wild swinging can now continue unabated.

A few things to bear in mind: It takes 6 x AA batteries. I've got heavy duty rechargables in there and haven't needed to top up yet so I can't tell you how much juice this baby uses. I will update as and when that occurs.

It has a button to turn it on and off at the front. When it is on, a blue light shines at the front - however, I have found a few times that I have turned the Wii off but forgotten the sensor bar so always remember to turn it off before the Wii!

Finally, with 6 x AA batteries in it's belly, this thing carries some heft so it's not going to fix to a wall without screws and a bit of drilling so if possible, always make sure it has a flat surface to sit on.

I mention these 3 points just so that you are aware - I personally do not consider any of them as drawbacks. It has done exactly what I wanted it to do, and for £7 I have no complaints.

9 out of 10.

I'm not sure I could convince myself to buy one of these, unless I completely change the set-up of my TV etc. £7 appears reasonable value though.

Good balanced review all the same though. Be good to have an update in a bit about battery consumption.

Well the wire is like a mile long, so I don't have any use for one I guess this could be kind of useful though if you have one wii you can buy as many of these as you want and play the wii in any room.

Very nice review Larry, Only thing I don't like is the same as others have mentioned, batteries and how long they would last!

Come back Larry! [last activity in May] - if those batteries are still running after the best part of 7 months we need to know.
