Ok, I turned my wii off at the socket today as I had to. I was wondering if this could in anyway affect my wii's internet connection. When I got back onto my wii the internet was fine, however I don't know much about wireless connections and wii's, my friend says he turns his off linke that all the time and it's fine - but then agian his internet's better than mine. I also wondered this because on standby (yellow light whilst turned off) the wii can get quite hot, and I don't think thats very good for the wii but it hasn't failed me for the months I've left mine on standby.
I just wanted to know as it would save me a bit of worry and hastle, please tell me what I should do! (mainly for turning it off at night)
I never leave mine switched on when not in use i don't see any advantage in doing so.
Getting your wireless connection back is no problem as soon as you click on the internet channel it connects to the router with hardly any delay.
if the light is yellow then you haven't turned it off properly, hold the power button til the light goes red, then it is in full standby mode. Also, turn off wiiconnect24 while in standby as your wii will get very hot and can overheat. If you do that then there is no need to turn off at the socket

I always leave my Wii on standby (Orange Light) when I'm not using it... I thought this is what it was designed to do?
Why else would we have WiiConnect24?
Me too!
and yes, that was what it was designed to do... but there has been some stories of over heating etc. - which IMO are very few and far between when you consider the amount of units sold.
The only advantage as far as i'm aware of having it on 'orange standby' is so that you can have wiiconnect24 active so that it updates the weather and news channels automatically... doing this reduces the time it takes to load up the relative channel as it does not have to download the new info, it has it there already.

We have a 24 hour garage round the corner it doesn't mean i have to go in there 24 hours a day.
If you are out during the day why leave it on,there is a risk of it overheating and it could burn the house down,a bit over the top i know, but if its not on its not a risk.
The wii does overheat but I find that its just about the right width and length to lay a couple of rashers of bacon on, by the time i have woken up in the morning put me slipppers on and walked down stairs they are just about cooked, a couple of slices and a bit of tommy sauce and bobs your uncle!
