Thumbs down Nintendo Says Wii Shortages Could Last 'Months'

You still can't find a Wii on store shelves without unleashing some serious Harry Potter-level magic spells and Nintendo says that may not be changing for a while. Speaking on the Game Theory podcast (and transcribed by Next Generation), Nintendo VP of marketing and corporate affairs Perrin Kaplan warned that shortages are not something that will necessarily disappear in the next couple of weeks.

"There is a lot going on behind the scenes in terms of working on what we are producing and the numbers continue to rise but the product is so very popular that we may see a supply / demand situation last for some time ... We are at absolute maximum production and doing everything we can."

So far, most people seem more than willing to stalk retail outlets for new shipments as they trickle in every few weeks, but when will people get tired of waiting?

Think of something from your childhood, a vivid memory. Between that time and now, every cell in your body has changed. So, were you really there?

I got one off ebay cos i couldnt wait but went in gamestation today and my preorder has arrived which i quickly passed onto a mate whose missus demanded he buy one after playing sports on sunday. I put my pre order in less than 2 weeks ago.

So Pre order is the way forward and if you find one inbetween from somewhere else you can get your deposit back.

They must me churning loads of these out! Surely they've made enough to start shipping in big numbers.

Usually I dont mind ordering stuff off the internet, but i didnt want to take a chance with mine after all the dodgy stuff i heard about. Always happens when something is in demand. False promises and all that. Christ it was bad enough when i wanted Goldeneye on the N64, nowhere had it!

I asked in my local GAME about consols last Friday and they said they expected some in the next morning. I got up early and got there half hour before they opened, 2 more people turned up looking for gold dust as well and hey presto 9am a delivery man comes along with 5. I goes in first and its all rather civilised! Not like these mental women trying to find a fiver off a handbag in the January sales.

Their phone was ringing constantly from 9am with ppl wanting to reserve and people were turning up after they opened forming a big queue. Most of those people were disappointed but all i can say is if you put the effort in you are more likely of success. Or maybe i was just lucky

Good luck all of those still waiting!

Yep, it took me 2 months of calling the GAME shop at 8:30am to reserve one. And then, they package the whole thing, including games and extra controllers in a huge see through bag, needless to say I ran back to the car park like i've never run before

Feel free to add me, the more mii's to mingle with the better, just don't forget to let me know you have.
