Default New to Wii - what to buy

Hi, I'm a newbie and don't even own a Wii yet! Although this will change very soon.

Which leads me to my question - what hardware should I buy initially? The console obviously but what about controllers? I want to be able to play with friends/family so do I need to buy another nunchuk and remote??

Also, any other hardware that I should get - I have 2 sons (8 & 4) who will no doubt be on the Wii for many hours!

Thanks for any help you can offer,

T777

Welcome to the forum Tuscan.

Firstly you will need extra Wiimotes for multiplayer. How many depends on how many people you wish to play at the same time (2-4). You will also need to buy a nunchuk for each Wiimote, but only if you plan on playing games that require the nunchuk (not all of them do). You should seriously consider purchasing "Wii Play". It's a game that comes bundled with a free Wiimote (saving a fair bit of money) and would also be an ideal starting game for your young sons.

Another consideration would be with the batteries of the remotes. If you don't wish to shell out for batteries all the time then you might want to consider purchasing some form of rechargeables. I myself use a cheap £5 set of rechargeables, however there are some very neat pieces of kit out there that allow you to charge the batteries whilst they are still inside the Wiimotes, although these are obviously more expensive.

Other than that, there shouldn't be much else you need to start enjoying the Wii. If you have any other questions then be sure to ask away.

Enjoy!

Thanks for all the advice Nicko - didn't think about the batteries (why would I??) I already have a battery recharger so that's good to know.

Are there any particularly good deals on in the UK at the moment that I should be aware of?

Other than that, I'm ready to take the plunge!

Welcome to the forums Tuscan! Mario Kart is a good game it might be a bit too advanced for your 4 year though..... I also agree with Nicko wii play would be a good game for them nothing too tricky in it. Welcome to the forums anyway
