How important are graphics really?

Good man. But Tetris without the Russian music is not Tetris to me . Used to love seeing those pixellated Cossacks dance.

I fall into the same category. I, like many of us, still like sidescroll style games. I was amazed at the graphics of a game like Mario World or Donkey Kong because of the illusion of 3 dimensions. But, I'll never buy a game for the graphics.

There was an old game called NFL QB club '98 for the N64 that had incredible graphics for a game in its time, but the gameplay was slow, cumbersome, and jumpy, and the controls weren't logical. I wouldn't buy something like that. Give me Mario any day.

Not very important judging the amount of peeps on here who play and love MOHH2, see it in action the other night and the grafix are poo :ha: Which proves the point that grafix are not everything gameplay is more important.

I spell grafix like that cos its cool!

Nintendo, majority of the time, uses brill artwork for graphics.

as i get older i get less and less bothered about graphics! i can remember at time when i was influenced by how a game looked (spent a fortune on dragons lair arcade which looked great but played crap etc )

much rather have real good playabillity over looks these days which is why ive always been such a loyal nintendo fan thats not to say that graphics arn't important though as it's always nice to have something pretty to look at!

a bit like efects heavy films in away you can spend a hundred million pound budget on special efects that look great but still have a crappy film under all the gloss (which will work in the short term but have very little re-watch value/after sales)

I don't mind any graphics as long as they aren't really crappy. For me gameplay comes before graphics.
