Nintendo sued over Wiimote straps (USA)

A nationwide class-action lawsuit has been filed against Nintendo over the "defective nature" of the Nintendo Wii controller. Filed in US District Court for the Western District of Washington earlier this month, the lawsuit describes the original strap on the Wiimote as "ineffective for its intended use" and cites reports of the strap breaking and causing damage.

Reports of the straps' failure began to surface shortly after the Wii was released last month. Pictures of damaged television sets began appearing on the Internet and a site dedicated to tracking the issue was quickly launched.

I know it is pretty ridiculous, hence why I kind of want this to stay a UK focused Wii site, as I dont want Americans coming on here to moan that they have strained thier little finger - and thats no offence to the Americans they are welcome to join in the chat as long the threads and games are UK based.

yeah I agree. That is the main reason I joined this forum as I wanted one where I could find UK dates etc and not American dates and so on.

I think the problem here is over zealous gamers rather than malfunctioning hardware.

I don't know on this one, with nintendo offering to replace the wrist straps maybe there was a bit of a problem here, even if these gamers are exagerating a little.
