Could anyone help.......I'm away where I work for the weekend and persuaded the missus to come up and bring the wii, the trouble is the rented property I have comes with an old hitachi tv and no remote. Got the wii connected up via composite/scart but the tv doesn't automatically switch to the "external" channel (which it does with a freeview box connected) any one got any suggests??? I have new games I need to play!!!!
I agree with Squigs. Generally, if you have channel up and down buttons on the front, then go down from channel 1 - this should be the AV channel. Good luck.
Mind you, I'm also inclined to agree with Willy!
Games owned (that I play): EA Playground, Endless Ocean, Excite Truck, Ghost Squad, Gottlieb Pinball, HotD, Kororinpa, Link’s Crossbow Training, Mario Kart, Mario Party 8, MySims, Pinbusters, RE:UC, Super Paper Mario, SSB Brawl, Wii Fit, Wii Play, Wii Sports
Scart switching requires a scart lead as it draws its power from this, composite simply won't do this automatically so you need to manually switch the channel like the other members have said
Either that or get a fully wired up SCART lead for the Wii instead of running composite through an adapter, but that might not be an option where you're staying at present. The fact is that most hotels use special remotes for their televisions and have AV input select disabled to force you to buy pay-per-view stuff, so this is likely going to be a problem wherever you stay.
Better off opting for a portable solution like DS/GBA than transporting the Wii unless you get the Wii SCART cable.
