Wow, the head of Sony's console department said Sony will p'wn the competition. How surprising.

Although, I am intrigued by his comments about "pure network gaming without a console." Not sure how that would work, considering any type of network gaming would require SOME type of console, even if it is just a PC.

P.S.- journalistically, that's called "burying the lead." If I heard that come out of his mouth, I would have pressed him on that further as a separate story.

I'm just not sure that Sony will reclaim the lead in the console stakes. Surely the point of games consoles are to have fun. I just don't see as many people having fun with a PS3 than a Wii. I want a game console to, surprise, surprise, play games and other uses are an added bonus.

I bought a Wii and not a PS3 because I wanted to reclaim something which I feel has been lost over the past 5/6 years or so of Sony dominance. That is gameplay. Sure the games look good and realistic, but who plays a game just because it looks nice? Not for me I'm afraid. Give me gameplay and addictiveness over graphics any day of the week. This was why even with a PS2 I was getting out the ol' SNES and N64!

With the PS3 you can have all 3 in 1 ,why settle for less?
