Should have been "Why are YOU waiting?", but I like the title as it is :P
Anyway, the quest for the Wii continues this month, with demand for Wii units increasing day by day. Despite the fact that Ninty is now making 1,000,000 units/month. The supply simply can't match demand.
Believe it or not Wii consoles are being shipped out in great numbers, but it will take Ninty a long time before the backlog of preo-orders and reservations is cleared. Demand, being so high on a global scale, has kept Ninty busy but seems to have no effect. Ninty outsold the 360 and PS3 by a 3:1 ratio in Japan and America. According to Ninty, they sold 200,000 units in the UK through christmas alone Unfortunately, I can't find a figure Australia, so please comment below if you can find the information .
Hopefully, according to Ninty, everything should start to smooth over by Easter, when all the Eastern-Asians have bought their Wii's :P We will be dedicated more stock. (It's good to know there's a company out there putting the UK before Americans).
To all of those that still don't have a Wii, either ease off until Easter, or go visit your local GAME store at 07:30am. (Between me, my uncle and my cousins, we got 2 from game like this, and 2 from Tesco Extra at 00:01, a minute after it was released.)
When I was trying to get hold of a Nintendo Wii console in February I had the same problems that everyone else did.
Whilst searching, I found this site that has a constantly updated stock check of all the major retailers. I used this for a few days then spotted s store had a fresh delivery then placed my order. Apologies if this link has been posted elsewhere and I hope that someone else finds it as useful as I did. (I also used it to get my Wii Play and extra controler)
aha Great link. I forgot to mention, I bought my controllers from a shop unknown to the ordinary man. My local blockbuster has an integrated GameStation, and not many people know about it. I can get any & all peripherals for the Wii there. So, I didn't miss out :P
There's a difference between what ninty has sold, and what we have bought.
What ninty has sold is what it's sold to retailers. Which is a meaningless figure as all of those may be sitting idly on shelves (like a lot of PS3's in the US/Jap are).
The figure we need is what the retailers have sold to us, not what ninty has sold to retailers.
"Wii's sold to the public" is a massive figure and shows how strong the Wii is in the market....

If I were talking about the PS3 or the Xbox, you'd be perfectly right... However, due to the Wii being out of stock everywhere, I believe this is an accurate figure. Everything sold by Ninty has been sold on to customers. Otherwise there wouldn't be this backlog
Why are we waiting indeed, im surprized theres still a vast shortage of Wiis, people are giving up waiting and going for the PS3 instead now. Im looking for another one, but no rush just yet

The best way of getting a Wii is to sign up to these places who will send you an email when they are getting some stock and you just have to make sure you are online at the specified time and get it ordered!
