Interesting I fail to see how it makes the cheerios box more interesting

1/4 people who eat cheerios are depressed...

I just had to share this fantastic quote with everyone.....made me smile (not reflective of any person....just an anecdote that made me smile ):

Quote:
Group intelligence is multiplicative when idiots are involved - combining a half-wit with another half-wit does not result in a full-witted person, it results in a quarter-witted person (1/2 x 1/2 = 1/4). Combining a full-witted individual with a half-wit still only yields a half-wit. The more of these "wrong kinds of people" you have involved in any process, the worse things get.

Super Mario Galaxy has totally blown me away. I've also just picked up Driver Parallel Lines (again). On one hand is a great game generally acknowledged as such. On the other hand is a great game (with fantastic music) that is generally overlooked.

.....well I like it anyway

Have also ordered Endless Ocean (thanx for the heads up on that one Captain ).......can't wait to try that one out. For someone who's been scuba diving in the Windies, I want to see if this even remotely reminds me of it.

Also took time to order the BEST disney cartoon they made - Jungle Book platinum edition. The platinum editions will apparently not be released again - once out of stock, they won't be reprinted. Also, as they're cartoons (MUCH lower res/screen info to code c.f. a "film") there will be little benefit bringing out a high def version any time soon (Disney has no plans to straight away anyway)...... so my advice is, if you see one you like, buy it before it runs out (I also have Lion King - only because it "reminds me" of the West End stage version which was Excellent).

Finally, I also ordered quite possibly one of THE best Sci-Fi films ever made - Blade Runner 5DVD definitive collector's edition. Contains ALL versions of the film ever released as well as a fully digitally restored and remastered new Ridley Scott edition (the previous "Director's Cut" actually had little to do with Ridley himself - it was more of a studio effort).
Comes in a collectors tin. Costs a measly £17, so that's been pre-ordered too.

Am now walking around with a noticeably more spritely step seeing as my wallet has been lightened somewhat .

Default Quite possibly one of the wierdest conversations I've had in a long time........

So I walked into the Car Phone Warehouse on Sunday and saw an iPhone on display.
Along came the bimbo sales assistant, asking if I needed "help" (whether this was a general question about my life or a direct enquiry re:aforementioned phone, I don't know ).

Here's how it went (me, her)

Can you tell me about the O2 contract please?
Well what you need is a compootaah...
No, sorry, I just want to know about the contract itself.
(blank expression)..........well what you need is a compootaah with Vista installed that you....
No hang on a sec, whoa there, wait a minute. I have an Apple mac, I don't need another OS...
but you need Vista to run....
No. I have an (speak slowly) A p p l e c o m p u t e r. It will be fine with that.
Ooooh, I don't know.
(at this point I think I've wondered into the twilight zone). Are you seriously telling me that even though I own a computer from the same company that made the phone (points deliberately at the apple symbol before the iPhone name), I will have a problem between them? They'll just work together as is.
Er....I'll just go and check (disappears around the corner)
(I stare dumbfounded after her for a bit and then take the time to fiddle with the phone and read a sheet about the contract myself)
(She returns) Well i've chatted to the manager and he says he thinks it might be OK.
(I'm truly gobsmacked at this point) but it's an APPLE iphone, and I have an APPLE mac to use with it.
(looks blankely at me)...yes....(looks blank some more)......

^^^^I couldn't think of anything to say, I was too stunned (at that point I just said bye and walked out). I think if she actually had to use her brain one day it might end up lethally injuring her (in which case she'd probably be a prime candidate for the Darwin Awards).

In any case, rest assured the iPhone will NOT sell out in the UK (with such informative shops that is )

I think that conversation deserves a blog of it's very own!

Thanks for sharing, Gaffer. That's definately put a smile on my face, even if the O2 contract didn't (I really fancied an iPhone, until I saw the O2 contract that is).

Thanx. To be fair, it was only funny in hindsight. I spent the next half hour wondering around town with a bemused expression on my face .

I also agree about the contract. Even the cheapest one only gives you 200 minutes cross network for a massive £35/month ......and for 18months too.
That's a whopping £630 on the "stingiest" contract they have. Coupled to the £270 initial outlay (I may like Apple, but that's WAY too expensive anyway imo) comes to a grand total of £900.

....I could buy a bleedin' CAR for £900 (grumbles like grandpa)

I agree with you 100%, mate.

£900 pounds in total, for 200 minutes a month, that's terrible really.

I heard that the law in France demands that Apple release a region free, pay as you go, version of the iPhone though. I'll be looking out for that!
