hehee

I'm not saying it to be a "lefty" ...honestly, my major concern with leaving WC24 on all the time is:

A - is it really necessary? How many times have I had an important "not-to-be-missed" message or update that I couldn't get later?

B - what worries me more is that the Wii actually runs VERY warm when on Yellow, too hot to be classed as a "standby" mode imo.
Those stories of a few folks having to have complete replacements from ninty when their graphics chips burn out (due to WC24 in standby generating too much heat) may be rare, but they're very real

Apart from that, I have so many gadgets lying around that it does reduce my leccy bills by leaving most of 'em off

Right. I think the 'standby' term is a misnomer. Maybe it should be called the 'Not quite so on button'

I'm wondering whether this 10W of thermal energy that is being generated is staying inside the unit, because the fan isn't turning when in standby mode, and it's causing the damage? If so, a firmware update should fix that.

And yes, while it's been nice to get a 2 or 3 mii's visiting from the 3 people in total that added me since I got the wii, it's not exactly gonna replace my main messaging system (email and sms) so there's not much point leaving it on...

No, that's not a fix, but what's called a 'work around'
