Oh come on. There cant really be anybody still out there who wouldn't take the Mac every time. How about the comparison with the Wii's easy interface and user friendliness - PS3=PC?
Good fun blog - I need to save for one of these babies.

IMHO as a mac user i would prefer the user base of macs stayed at close levels to what it is at present for quite a while...i understand it is increasing in popularity of late but i, as many other mac users will also say, think that like windows a large user base would have its flaws (mainly virus, etc) I also like the exclusivity of owning such a brilliant computer!
Macs are great though...ever since switching i havn't ever wanted to move back to PC, i actually don't know what i would do WITHOUT my mac. I'm on fieldtrip in the lakes at the moment and i've got it with me for downloading all the pictures ive taken of my camera etc. its just brilliant!

I think the answer to this is quite simple.
If someone had £1,500 to spend then they would most likely go for a MAC Notebook every time.
In reality not all of us can afford that amount of money and with PC laptops and computers from as little as £299, I think most people will opt for the cheaper PC.
In conclusion, as with most things, it's about money and that's why there are more PC owners than MAC owners...
Even though an equivalently specced PC always comes out as more expensive....not everyone wants all the bells and whistles.
Unfortunately Apple don't quite do cheep'n'cheerful (yet), and until they do, people wishing to spend only £400 or so have to go the PC route.
Sssshhh! Don't tell anyone I know, but if a new budget Mac came about then I could be tempted to convert...
If they did a bufget Mac for under £450 then they would sell like hot cakes as a lot of families now have computers in their homes and what looks better in a front/living room? Not a PC that's for sure, Mac's do look better in that sort of environment where a typical family would just want to browse the net and write a few documents etc.

Surely the major benefit of having a Mac is the unix operating system that sits behind MacOS - a benefit that no family surfing the internet and writing documents will ever tap into.

Yes...in which case it's the UNIX system that gives us everything that MacOS does...so they would be benefitting
(aka, without UNIX, we wouldn't have OSX (which works like it does because it's UNIX)...hence, the benefits of OSX all stem from UNIX directly - even the everyday mundane things like surfing the web [eg no viruses/adware/spyware inserting themselves into the OS on a mac] and opening documents [eg Word cannot crash the OS in mac - no blue screens of death]).
word is properly rubbish under rosseta (macs system for running non native programs) its so slow but its still usable its just really slow!
Macs will always be better in my opinion and im quite happy with apple not having a lower model for the average consumer because i would rather save up for summat worthwhile myself!
