I have been using Wiimote and Nunchuk since Day 2. Not only do I oversteer causing me to dig deep into the couch (especially on a tight corner) but I don't like using Button 2 for gas.
It is in an awkward position
It is a bit of a lame button being so small.
I wish the accelerator button was behind the wheel like the B button but its not posibble at present.

Everyone who tries both will find the nunchuk and wiuimote combo is the best and most accurate control method. Trust me in that all the good players (ranked above 6500 on vs mode online) use the nunchuk and remote, the wheel is just for a bit of fun with your mates!

Wish I could Wii all day - what a relief that would be
I have used the NGC wired controller and think its really nice. but after a while of using it MK just feels like any other old game.u need the wii wheel to keep that...'originality' about the game.

I saw a wheel on 6500+
Plus i did try the Nunchuk & Mote combo at a mates and don't get me wrong it's a great control method but i still use the wheel, i do well with it

As I said in my earlier post, I was this version of Mario Kart to be more about the fun than the winning and it's a lot more fun using the wheel! Otherwise it just seems like an updated GC version...

Agreed. Plus you can still be a great player with the wheel
The other control methods (Mote & Chuk/GC/CC) make it seem just like your playing it on the GameCube (like Foo said) but in the end it's down to preference
When you go to select a race type eg. worldwide vs race it says your rank (score) in the blue bit to the right

only used wii wheel at the moment, might try the remote and nunchuck combination later see how that feels, but I think the wheel is really the only way to go with this game, good read gaffer
