Post count not increasing - click here!
It has been brought to my attention lately that some people's post counts don't increase when posting in a certain section. There is a simple explanation for that.
Your post count will not increase in the following sections: General Discussion, Fun and Games and Hall of Shame. This is to prevent people from achieving a big post count for not discussing the main subject matter of the forum, the Wii!
Just letting you all know, so you don't get confused if you count doesn't increase.
Alright.. Don't want anyone to take this like a complaint or anything because it's in no way intended like that
I joined the forum to get help about my Wii because not being the usual gamer and that good with new technology I was struggling with what exactly my Wii code was for and things.
Since then I have came on the forum and had a little chat here n there contributing while I am getting along fine with my Wii (for the time being.. it's only a matter of time before my Wii throws something else I don't know about my way).
So I post quite a bit in the General Section so I am not just posting once or twice every week or so and "using" the forum members for their knowledge and there is always someone talking about what game to get next so I read up on that too.
Just the way I see it you either are posting or you are not.
Post count doesn't really matter to me and I see that you are only allowing post count to increase if they are chatting about the Wii but at the side it says Posts: which could mislead people into thinking you are not posting as much as you are.
Hope this doesn't go down the wrong way just was thinking about it and thought I would see what anyone else thought
I seem to recall this was brought in because some members were complaining about some of the game threads where you only have to post one word replies or something like that. Some of those threads have hundreds of replies and some people thought that others were only getting involved or starting the thread to increase their post count.
Ok so some people dont care about their post count but others really really do and will do anything to increase it which can include alot of spamming.
By doing it this way, people can post all they like in those game threads without being accused of spamming. I think its fair.
post count shouldn't matter to be honest.
it's one of those things that people look at to judge that particular person.
whilst i agree it is nice to see your post count increase personally, i have no problem with the post count not increasing and think it's a good idea.
i was admin on a forum a few years back that removed post counts totally - that way the poster gets a fair ballpark, and nobody flames because they are new and have no posts etc (not that i'm saying this happens on this forum).

Sorry for the confusion, but yes, this was brought in around September time. However, I don't think it was officially announced. This thread of for the benefit of all the new member's who weren't around when it was being discussed.

I think it was definately the right thing to do. The amount of games being created at that time was quite high and new members were getting tons of posts a day for essentially playing them!
It's a lot better now, but the 'Post a Photo' thread should probably be moved in there as well IMO...
