The WiiTalk Newsletter Discussion/Feedback
I've decided to repost his here, as it might get a bit more attention and so it doesn't get lost easily in the General Wii Section!
As you may or may not have known, a group of member's, including myself, will be producing a WiiTalk newsletter, which will be sent out to all member's. This will not only keep you up to date with all the latest Wii and forum news, but it might also encourage older members to return.
I will produce the newsletter, which will be saved as a JPEG. Then, when it sent via email, everyone should be able to view it, regardless of what software they have.
Although I will produce the final product, anyone who wants to help out will be assigned a part of the newsletter which they will gather info for, which will be sent to me, eg. for the best thread/post of the week section, someone will be assigned to track it down!
Thanks to this poll: What would you like to see in the WiiTalk newsletter? I have decided on the following sections for the first issue. These may well change from issue to issue:
-New and Future Releases
-Thread/Post of the Week
-Member Review (which will make up the bulk of the newsletter)
-Best Weekly Prices (this will have to be OogieBoogie's section!)
-Weekly Stats (eg. how many people have signed up in the last week. This might encourage the older members to return when they see how successful the site has become)
- Member's Birthdays
This is a list of job's for the newsletter, and who has taken it:
Thread/Post of the Fortnight - FooFan
Editor - JBond007
Hosting/Additional Editing - Octane85?
News Finder - greenman
Interviewer - red daze
Birthdays - Fallen124Angel
New/Future Releases - Chill
Deal of the Fortnight (DotF) finder - Epo

It's all sounding, and looking, very good JB.
My only concern is with having the bulk of the newletter being a Review or blog. That kind of goes against the whole 'Newsletter' thing.
Personally, I'd think that the main bulk of the letter should be about the past week, e.g stats, new releases, updates on the tournaments being played, member's milestones etc.
That way it would actually be News
But that's just what I think...

Yea I see what you mean. The only trouble is how to use the space. I was thinking we need a big main article, so all the other little bits that won't take much room could fit in around it.

Yeah I know what you mean, but could you not incorporate all the things I said into a single article, rather than have lots of little articles?
It's just an idea, I don't know how everyone else feels about it, it's their newsletter as well

Well, I'm really looking forward to seeing this drop into my inbox each week.
I think the important thing is to launch it and adjust the format/layout as necessary depending on feedback received.
Good luck with it. Everyone will have a slightly different idea of what it should be like, but as the Editor-in-Chief, you need to take the bull by the horns and get it going, JB!
Games owned (that I play): EA Playground, Endless Ocean, Excite Truck, Ghost Squad, Gottlieb Pinball, HotD, Kororinpa, Link’s Crossbow Training, Mario Kart, Mario Party 8, MySims, Pinbusters, RE:UC, Super Paper Mario, SSB Brawl, Wii Fit, Wii Play, Wii Sports

Oh, the pressure!! Maybe I should ask for a layout designer, because I'm really stumped as to how it should be laid out. Once that is done, it will be far easier!

also an idea since me n scrubs are setting up sotw contests (starting monday people!) maybe you could include the sig of the week?
just an idea
I got the email, but all 3 attachments seem to be the background, which uses doylens banner
As for including SOTW, that will come in time. New features can be included in the newsletter, as and when they are needed, depending on what is happening on the forum.
Why don't you incorporate a new bit of nintendo news each week? That might bring members back to see whats going on in the world of wii not just the site?
