What Game Should I Get for MY Birthday!

Identical to Sue's post except(Don't HoS me just yet! ), I have a different criteria!

Basically I think I've narrowed it down to 3 games... and they are...

Guitar Hero III - Always wanted a Guitar hero game and I think I would love it, but is multiplayer needed to make it a great game? Because I would just have the one guitar

Medal of Honor: Heroes 2 - 32-player online... That's basically it! I wouldn't even be considering this if it didn't have it, so am I just going to be disapointed when I'm used to playing games like Battlefield 2 on the PC? Just the thought of playing you guys online...

No More Heroes - This is one I've only just started considering because of the great reviews. Looks interesting, but I haven't convinced myself I'd get more enjoyment out of this than the other two...


Or there's the wild card option...

A Nintendo DS - The last handheld console I had was a gameboy colour, so I'm a bit behind the times! But some of the titles (Yoshi's Island in particular) really appeal to me on this!

My birthday is on the 10th febuary, so I need to decide pretty soon!

Oooh, this is a difficult one Foo.

I would say it's between MOH2:Heroes and a Nintendo DS.

However.....MOH2:Heroes is a single game (a great looking game by all means - but it's still one game alone). Plus, the main draw is the multiplayer online (the single player is apparently so so).
So you have a multiplayer online game versus....

....a COMPLETE console system. A system with great games like MarioKartDS, LoZ:PhantHrglss etc etc.
As good as a game is (ANY game....even Super Mario Galaxy), it can't compete with having a complete DS and the ability to play LOADS of great games.
Also, a DS and a Wii will allow you to unlock certain content in games such as the extra galaxy in GeoWars....or link together in games like Pokemon....
(I'm sure future games will also make use of the connectivity).

So the choice has to go to a DS....because you get more "bang for your buck".
If you're not too fussed about getting a UK one, places like VG+ and Play-Asia allow you to import special editions like the Zelda Gold Triforce one:


or special colours like the crimson/black one:


As they're universal, all you need is the official UK ninty charger (auto-switching voltage), and they're usually marked as "gifts" or "childs toy" and marked low so that you won't get stung by customs .

Failing that, I quite like the Black DS's (I myself have a white one, but have heard many reports of these being maybe slightly more prone to cracked hinges).

I personally think you would be more suited to Guitar Hero III, but as it my birthday aswell on 31st January, yay me... I am getting Medal of Honour: Heores 2. Unlike yourself I am all for Army games lol, Just something about them lol, and with the added feature of 32 player online, it is certainly my number 1 choice. But for you I vote Guitar Hero III. (if not go for MOH2 )

I would say MoH 2 but thats because Im thinking of long term expenses when it comes to buying games for your DS and accessories etc

The DS is by far superior choice but it all comes down to money at the end of the day.

Im not gonna happy birthday you yet Foo, ill hold off until your birthday

Thanks for the replies so far guys! It's interesting that we've had 3 votes and they've all been for different things!

The expense issue of the DS does cross my mind, it's not just a case of getting the DS, it's also buying the games from then on and continuing my love for all things Wii Would the DS get forgotten when the likes of SSBB and Mario Kart arrive? Not to mention the even closer releases of Battallian Wars 2 and PES...

Keep the opinions coming people! They will all go towards me (hopefully)making a decision!

I'd get a ds mate . We sold ours a couple of months ago and regretted it immediately .

Plus you'd be able to paticpate in the online DS goodness thats been floating around the forum lately (and been sending me into jealous rages)

With a DS you'll open the door to a load more games too .

You have the Wii and MOH or GH3 waiting for when you have some extra cash but if you dont have a DS .... then no DS goodness (full stop)

But out of the games i'd get MOH purely for the reason you mentioned .

No, mate!

All three Wii games or a DS, surely!!!

I am a total DS freak - got a white Lite complete with Super Mario Bros decals - very ME!

If you get one, you WON'T regret it! I mean, for one thing, you can start racing on Mario Kart now instead of waiting until the Wii game comes out!!!

But if you decide for a Wii game, I'd say Medal of Honor: Heroes 2. I would think you'd get a lot of fun out of that.

I would go for Guitar hero
when i first got it i failed and failed again and was like oh no thats £70 gone but once i tried i got better and now im half way thru medium career

as funny as it sounds you can have a multiplayer party with once guitar simply as you can easly do a league.

also is very fun on single player and best career mode ever!

DS, Better than wii. Yoshi's island, superb game. Also Zelda PH!
I would go for the DS and start saving for the others.

also with a ds i dont think is a good idea as you may spend money on games for the ds so you wont be able to afford the new cool titles for the wii ssbb and mk for eg
