Just thought I would respond on brawls online play. From how you guys described it, you will feel like you are going to nothing. It really is that primitive. You don't get to see who you are joining online. You select whether you want to do a random team brawl or normal brawl, pick your characters and stage, then you get entered into an auto-pairing system to find opponents. The friend service is actually not that bad. You go and look at your friend roster, then it says wether they are just online, in a brawl, or looking for one. Then you can also make a room just for friends, and now you can change it to stock and modify the items. You guys will also be happy to hear that there are 64 slots for friends.
Great blog.

Great replies guys, that's what's great about writing and reading blogs on this forum, you always get some brilliant points made and some great discussion!
I do agree that friend codes are not as bad as some people will make you believe, I just feel that the online service from MK shows how small a part they can play, wheras in other games, the main emphasis is on swapping friend codes, not the actual service you get
Thanks to Skyman for the reply as well! I'm really gutted that Brawl's online is not the same as MK's, it makes perfect sense for them both to be very similar as they have been released around the same time! Especially as they are the 2 big games everyone has been waiting for... They got it spot on with MK, so why not bother with Brawl?!
Only with the next big online multiplayer release(No idea what that is now... F-Zero maybe?) will we see whether Nintendo are prepared to keep putting the effort into online play, or whether they are happy to just provide the basic options.

Great blog.
I intially thought that Brawl online side sounded terrific but now that I've seen Mario Karts, they're miles apart
And Brawl took longer to develop then Mario Kart.
But, for me, Brawl is the kinda game that is best served with three people in the same room as you, but thats another thread no another day.
Thanks Skyman for clearing up that side of the coin

Bit upset I'm not on your handwritten list, but Its ok, i understand.
Totally agree with your very valid points as well mate. But like you, I'm so overly impressed with the wau they have done the online system on MK, I fell bad for critising it.
As far as brawl goes, I'm guessing there is no chance of a rehaul with the Europe version is there?? I'm guessing it will run exactly as the US version.
The friend codes are derived from Wii names, game names as well as Wii console numbers I think.......
I'm also with Daze in this in that I think they have full opportunity to revamp the Euro system in time for launch...after all, we have to wait the extra 4-6 months for it .
I also think maybe the codes will "go" in time for Wii2? Hopefully, Ninty will invest more "trust" in a conventional name system instead ....for surely they know how irksome these 12-16 digit codes are ? .
