Default Killarapps latest blog, its a weird one

Decided to move away from a traditional 'nintendo is annoying me' debate to ask you guys about some of your personal experiences.

Now I have noticed something about myself, almost everything I knocked at first I ended up loving. I believe people who knock things without knowledge of what their knocking are fools, like I have been, and I believe people will miss out on some very fine things in life with such an attitude.

So this is a list of things that I originally wouldn't give the light of day, now im a big fan, light fan and am so glad I tried em.

Girls / Boys

You remember when you were 7? when a couple kissed in a movie you'd shut your eye and go 'gross' or whatever? only to find yourself emotionally and hormonially charged a few years later? thinking 'how do I not notice this before?' and strongly lusting towards the opposite sex?

Alcohol

I think like the last this is a natural progression, everyone hates alcohol at a young age, nature makes us, we grow the taste buds for it at a later age. But by this time we've already stated to all our folks at partys how 'we hate alcohol and are never going to drink'. just making us realise how silly kids are.

Music

A bigger one here, everyone gets into music around High School age. But they tend to get into the stuff they're already heard. For me it was Queen and U2 being that it was on in the car a lot. But I found it was music that I dismissed at first, Radiohead for its depressingness and Pink Floyd for its weirdness compared to everything you've ever heard before, that became my two favorate bands. Message here, never dismiss music until you've heard it a few times, you may just end up a die hard fan.

My top albums

1. Wish you were here (Pink Floyd)
2. Ok Computer (Radiohead)
3. Rush of blood to the head (Coldplay)
4. The Bends (radiohead)
5. Night at the opera (Queen)
6. The Joshua Tree (U2)
7. Eyes open (Snow Patrol)

Try em out, a few times, before you decide you don't like em. Or you may just end up missing out on something great in your life incase they grow on you.

Mature games/Films

I used to pretty much only enjoy what I knew, that being cutsy platformers and disney crap and while im always going to have a place for Ratchet and Clank that doesn't excuse all the computer games I hated at first and grew to really enjoy, experiences I won't have to regret anymore. It leads to being able to enjoy Halo3 and Bioshock and a whole manner of violent games and experiences I may have always avoided. The same goes with films, I could have never enjoyed A Clockwork Orange for example! the horror.

So think of it like this, everytime you don't try something, everytime you dismiss it. You could be turning down an amazing experience you'd never get to enjoy, sure you wouldn't miss it, or regret it but you won't have it there to look upon fondly either. And don't you want as many great experiences as possible?

Its also worth noticing things you go from hate to love with tend to be the most meaningful of experiences, such as alcohol, halo and Pink Floyd.

So... what are your unregretable experiences?
