Rock band is essientially Guitar Hero, but with Drums and A Mic... and a £200 price tag! 
For that, you could get Guitar Hero, 2 guitars and plenty left over for some classic rock albums 
No question that Guitar Hero is the better option and No, GH controllers will not be compatable with Rock Band on the Wii
