I would say you've got dilemma there, there clearly is a difference between having no PS2 compatibility and having it with the PlayStation 3. The Xbox 360 has the huge range of games to go with it's online capabilities however the blu-ray part of the PS3 is it's trump card in my opinion, since HD DVD is discontinued and the Xbox can only watch regular DVDs (Really no point buying the HD add-on now), whereas the PS3 runs both regular DVD's and Blu-Ray discs. The price, well the price is always an issue with technology but it really comes down to what will you use it for, of course if you just want online gaming and games then the Xbox 360 would probably be for you however if you want a fully fledged entertainment system then the PS3 will be right up your street if your willing to pay the extra cost, of course it's range of titles is smaller but it has only been on the market a short amount of time.
In my opinion, out of the two consoles (I own neither so i am truly neutral) I would personally go for the PlayStation 3, price aside, it really is a brilliant entertainment system (Doubling as a Blu-Ray player of course)
